Cricketer RP Singh Launches ‘Nurturing Trees, Nurturing Lives’ Campaign in City

 Chandigarh, 30th August:---- Cricket Star RP Singh along with  Arjuna Awardee Golfer Harmeet Kahlon kick started  'Nurturing Trees, Nurturing Lives'  campaign with children, in the ground of New Public School, Chandigarh here this morning. The campaign was to spread awareness about the life saving vaccine offered as part of the Routine Immunisation (RI) programme.

Under RI, children are given life saving vaccines against 7 diseases, including polio. These vaccines are available free of cost at all health centres and are an absolute must to protect children against these deadly diseases.

 Speaking during occasion, R P Singh said that the young generation has the potential to bring about a huge change. Their individual efforts would together make a big impact. Their joining hands for spreading awareness on routine immunization would help save lives of children. In the campaign, the sapling is synonymous to a child who needs to be nurtured and protected against deadly diseases, just as the sapling needs to be watered and cared for to grow into a healthy tree.

Also present on this occasion Special Secretary Health, Chandigarh Mrs. Gurpreet Sapra said that child immunization was of utmost importance. You should spread awareness for this cause and ensure Routine immunisation for your children when you become parents, she remarked. 

While giving detail about the campaign the official said that the nationwide NTNL campaign was launched by Suresh Raina in Delhi on 24 February this year, on the first anniversary of India coming off the World Health Organization's polio endemic list. The Adani Group has partnered in the NTNL campaign to promote RI, especially in the high risk states for polio. Over 800 educational institutions across the country are expected to participate in the year-long campaign. Around 300,000 saplings are to be planted by youth and children who would pledge to spread awareness on Routine Immunization vaccines and polio immunization. Nearly 1.6 million children under the age of 5 years die in India every year. A large number of these deaths can be prevented with these lifesaving vaccines. With India's remarkable progress against polio this year, the polio eradication programme priorities have shifted to addressing polio associated risk factors to prevent poliovirus importation, the most important being boosting Routine Immunization coverage

 

 

MCM Organize An Event on ‘Indian Parliament: The Spirit of Democracy’ : To Familiarize The Students With The Spirit of Democracy

 Chandigarh, 30th August:---- To familiarize the students with the spirit of democracy in the wake of the upcoming National Elections 2014.  The Department of Political Science, MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized an event on the theme 'Indian Parliament: the spirit of democracy'

The event was suffused with various infotaining activities. A quiz with a total of six rounds was gave the students a platform to inspect their knowledge and understanding of the system of Indian governance. Questions on History of Indian parliament, the election process, political parties, famous election slogans and unparliamentarily proceedings were included.

 A thought- provoking speech on 'Changing role of Indian Parliament from one party dominance to coalition government' by Aakriti Sharma of BA 3rd year examined the changing face of Indian political practice. Power point presentations on 'Role of responsible and judicious voting in India' sensitized the students about their right to vote.

The winners of the quiz competition were DAMINI SAIN (B.Com – III) and Sumeet Kaur (BA-II) while Aakriti Sharma (BA-II) and Ekta Rai (BA – I) were the runners up. The principal of the college, Dr. Puneet Bedi, appreciated the endeavor and said that the judicious exercising of the right to vote betters the future of the nation.

CII’s Yi Green-I Contest to award Rs 7.5 lakh grant to students

 Chandigarh, 29th August:---- Young Indians (Yi) an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing the seventh edition of its Green-I contest to create awareness and encourage students to think about conservation and sustainability measures that can be incorporated for a better tomorrow.

Sharing the details of the CII's Yi Green–I contest, Ms Gursimran Kaur, Chairperson- Environment, CII Yi Chandigarh Tricity Chapter and COO, Taaleem India said, that the topic for this year's contest is Green cities are gateways to a sustainable future. As students are the future leaders in their own community, they have the power to transform the city into sustainable and wonderful community. This year's Green-I contest wants the students to visualize as to how would their home or city look in 2030 and efforts that need to be taken to make it the most sustainable city in India by 2030. she added that the winning school will get a grant of Rs. 7.5 lakh towards implementation of their green ideas. The implementation of the project by the winning school shall be guided and monitored by a Yi representative.   

Ms Gursimran Kaur added, that the Schooling is the formative phase in one's life and our idea is to reach out to as many school children as possible. This year the plan is to reach out to over 2000 schools and 26 cities through the Yi local chapters. It will be the largest such contest in India in terms of outreach and students impacted through a single environmental initiative. "

 Chandigarh, 29th August:---- हरियाणा सरकार द्वारा ग्रामीण क्षेत्रों को पूर्णतया बैंकिंग सेवाओं युक्त करने के लिए किये जा रहे प्रयासों के तहत °¿ Çè °È  âè  बैंक द्वारा आज चंडीगढ़ के ताज होटल में एक साथ रिमोट द्वारा 18 नईं ग्रामीण ब्रांचों का उदघाटन किया गया। इस का उदघाटन हरियाणा के प्रमुख सचिव आई ऐ एस -पी के चौधरी ने किया।  इन 18 ब्रांचों के खुलने से हरियाणा में °¿ Çè °È  âè  बैंक 200 ब्रांचों  का आंकडा पार कर लिया है।

हरियाणा के मुख्य सचिव पी के चौधरी ने बैंक की प्रशंसा करते हुए बताया के इस बैंक का फॉक्स ग्रामीण आबादी की तरफ है और आज की 18 ब्रांचों में से 14 उन इलाकों में हैं जहां पहले कोई भी बैंक मौजूद नहीं है

वहीँ °¿ Çè °È  âè  बैंक की ब्रांच बैंकिंग हैड स्मिता भगत ने अपने बैंक की तरफ से किये गये ग्रामीण बैंकिंग के वायदे को पूरा करने के लिए हरियाणा में 200 ब्रांचों का लक्ष्य पूरा करने में ख़ुशी ज़ाहिर की।  उन्होंने बताया के इन ग्रामीण बैंकों में वह तमाम सुविधाएं उपलब्ध होंगी जो शहरी  ब्रांचों में होती हैं।

 

PTU’S INTER COLLEGE TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT IN CGC JHANJERI

Mohali 29th Aug: -- On National Sports Day in Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri, PTU's Inter College Table Tennis (Men & Women) Tournament have commenced with great enthusiasm today. More than 100 participants forming 22 teams of men and 10 of women are taking part in this keenly contested tournament.

Speaking on the occasion, Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal , President CGC said that in the present scenario, existence has become highly competitive . As such, to be successful in life, one has to put emphasis not only as studies but also on sports and other co-curricular activities so that there is an overakk growth of one's personality.

Dr.G.D Bansal, Director General thanked PTU for having selected CGC Jhanjeri for this prestigious tournament. Dr Bansal highlighted the importance of sports and advised all the participants to compete with honesty and integrity with the spirit of sportsmanship.

Haryana Archeology Deptt.to Hold Two Days National Workshop on Conservation

Chandigarh, 29th August:---- हरियाणा अभिलेखागार विभाग आगामी 9 10 सितंबर को चंडीगढ के यूटी गेस्ट हाऊस में दो  दिवसीय संरक्षण विषय पर राष्ट्रीय कार्यशाला का आयोजन करेगा।

Kotak Mahindra Bank Launch Kotak Mahindra Junior

Chandigarh, 28th August:---- छोटे बच्चों में बचत की आदत डालने के लिए कोटक महिन्द्रा बैंक ने कोटक महिन्द्रा जूनियर नाम की एक स्कीम लांच की है जो एक दिन के बच्चे से लेकर 18 साल तक के युवाओं के लिए है।  इस स्कीम को और आकर्षक बनाने के लिए इस स्कीम धारकों के लिए एक डेबिट कार्ड भी दिया जा रहा है जिसकी लिमिट 5000 रूपए होगी। इस स्कीम को आज चंडीगढ़ के होटल ताज में लांच किया गया।

कोटक महिन्द्रा बैंक के एग्ज़िक्युतिव वाइज़  प्रेजिडेंट महेश बालासुब्रामनयन  ने बताया के छोटे बच्चों में बचत की आदत डालने के लिए कोटक जूनियर बचत बैंक खाते को लांच किया गया है , इस में आयकर एक्ट के 80 अनुछेद के अंतर्गत 10000 रूपए की छूट के इलावा अवयस्क की कर आय पर 1500 रूपए की अतिरिक्त छूट मिलेगी। यह खाता 0 वर्ष से 18 वर्ष तक के युवाओं के लिए खोला जाएगा। रूपए की गिरती कीमत पर चिंता प्रगट करते हुए उन्होंने बताया के अब लोगों को बचत के प्रति आकर्षित करने के लिए कुछ ख़ास और सही स्कीमें लांच करनी होगी।

 

Joint Action Committee of Teachers To Hold Rally on 30th August

Chandigarh, 28th August:-- चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन के शिक्षा विभाग द्वारा अपने कर्मचारियों पर की जा रही ज्यादतियों के विरोध में चंडीगढ़ के सरकारी स्कूलों की युनियन "JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE OF TEACHERS(UT) की तरफ से 30 अगस्त को सेक्टर 25 के रैली ग्राउंड में एक रैली का आयोजन किया जाएगा जिसमे युनियन विभाग द्वारा की जा रही धांधलियों का भंडाफोड़ भी करेगी और अपने अगले कार्यक्रम की घोषणा भी करेगी।  आज युनियन के सीनियर सदस्यों द्वारा इस बात को प्रेस क्लब में की गयी एक प्रेस वार्ता में किया।

JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE OF TEACHERS (UT) के को-कन्वीनर के  आर शर्मा ने बताया के हमारी मांगों में स्कूलों का समय ना बढाना ,नर्सरी और लायब्रेरियन की कम से कम स्केल 4200 करना , अपनी मांगों को लेकर प्रोटेस्ट कर रहे अध्यापकों के खिलाफ दायर की  गयी ऍफ़ आई आर रद्द करना , विभाग के उन कर्मचारियों की स्वतंतर और निष्पक्ष जांच करवाना जो यूनिफार्म घोटाले और बदली घोटाले में लिप्त हैं।  उन्होंने डाक्यूमेंट्री सबूतों के साथ उन अधकारियों के भी नाम लिए जो वर्दी घोटाले में संलिप्त हैं पर जिन पर अभी तक कोई कार्यवाही नहीं की गयी।  उन्होंने प्रशासन पर अपने अधिकारियों की शिकायतों पर कोई भी एक्शन ना लेने का आरोप लगाया और ३० अगस्त के प्रोटेस्ट के दौरान अपने द्वारा लिए जाने वाले सख्त कदम की घोषणा करने की भी बात कही।
