PGI HOLD STATE LEVEL INTEGRATED HEALTH PROMOTION PROJECT WORKSHOP

Chandigarh 30^th July:- School of Public Health (SPH), PGI in partnership with Department of Health and Family Welfare of Punjab and Haryana State, is undertaking a project entitled, "Development of Integration Model for Health Promotion in a District Setting". The project aims to assess the situation of IEC/health education activities at a district level, build the capacity of staff for health promotion at district setting, develop an integrated model of health promotion, and implement it on pilot basis in the districts. If found feasible and successful,it will be replicated at state and national level under National Health Mission (NHM).

The situation analysis of IEC/BCC activities in the selected districts has already been carried out. The findings suggest that at present, the health promotion component is fragmented and not uniform across different health care levels at a district setting. It is yet to be recognized as a critical domain of health service delivery. Mostly the scope of IEC/BCC activities in the district is limited to distribution of IEC materials and conducting group sessions on reproductive health issues per se. The health system lacks integration of IEC/BCC activities within the existing national health programs with very little emphasis on NCD risk factors. There is no annual calendar of activities.

A draft of manual for building the capacity of the staff such as health workers and counselors has been developed. As a part of developing strategy for implementation and finalization of the manual, School of Public Health is organizing a 'State Level Stakeholders' Workshop for Strategic Planning' on 31st July, 2014 at School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh. This workshop will include 40 stakeholders of Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh besides officials from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) and ICMR, New Delhi. State Mass Media Officer, Programme Officers of various national health programs, faculty from PGI, GMCH, Fine Arts College and Punjab University will be the participants.

 

 

Mata Sahib Kaur Public School Celebrate Teej Festival

Chandigarh 30^th July:- To promote rich cultural heritage of north india, Mata Sahib Kaur Public School celebrated Monsoon Festival Teej with great fervour and enthusiasm. The school was decorated with flowers, balloons, ribbons and posters.  The corridors were decorated with various works of art by students.  Fancy dress and group song competition was organised at the moment. Young enthusiastic children beaming with joy and were looking confident to win the competition. The celebrations also included ride on swings, games and mehendi applying on their hands. Cultural show added life to the colourful atmosphere. Even the menu of day included monsoon special pakoras, puris, and kheer etc.

While speaking at the moment, Principal Ranjit Kaur lauded the efforts of the staff and  students for participating with zeal and zest on this  eve, which has  socio- economic importance and stressed on the need to remain in touch with culture of Punjab and preserve it. She apprised students for making it memorable moment as well as importance of rain for crops and nature was also told to the students .She also urged the students to give special care to the cleanliness of our surrounding during monsoon.

 

Bharti Airtel Crosses 300 Million Customers Milestone

PGI To Take Hospital Information System

Chandigarh 29^th July:- In effort to take Hospital Information System (HIS) forward, PGIMER has been focusing on implementing the computerized patient related services under Prof. Y.K.Chawla, Director PGIMER. Provision of viewing investigation report of New OPD patients through PGIMER web portal i.e. www.pgimer.edu.in for Biochemistry Lab is another step in this direction.  This Web based facility is available in very secure manner by generating one time password (OTP) for the registered mobile number of the patient and same can be accessed by entering Cr. No. and Receipt No. of the payment made for the patient. This lab caters to a major proportion of the Biochemistry investigation/tests being undertaken by PGIMER. With the launch of this facility, reports of the tests will be available on PGIMER web portal for viewing from anywhere anytime for last fifteen days. Patients will get respite from difficult task of getting the paper based lab investigation report for Biochemistry Tests. More labs will be added soon.

HALLMARK PUBLIC SCHOOL ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP

Chandigarh 28^th July:- Hallmark Public School, Panchkula organised a 4^th Blood Donation Camp at its premises. S S Phulia, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula, inaugurated the camp. As a pre-curser to the camp, this year, Hallmark Public School had added "Importance of Blood Donation" in its curriculum. 196 people registered & 171 Units of Blood was collected. The donors were awarded with souvenirs and certificates to make the event memorable for them.  The blood camp was under the supervision of Dr. Manish Rai of Rotary Blood Bank Society, Sector 37, Chandigarh.

Jivtesh Garg, Director, Hallmark Public School, Panchkula said that the idea was to motivate students so as to raise their level of sensitivity towards important social causes. The educators explained to them their responsibilities towards society and the pivotal role of blood donation. The students were so enthused with the training that they made collages, art work etc related to blood donation, which was put up at the camp site.

Mrs. Kavita Wadhwa, Principal, said that Hallmark has institutionalized the blood donation camp and made it a yearly event. I feel with the major shortage of blood in our country; all schools and educational institutions should work in the direction of collecting this elixir of life, for use by medical fraternity to treat patients in dire need of blood.

Mediacal Experts Discusses Changing Patterns of Infectious Diseases in India”

Chandigarh 28^th July:- The First Annual Public Health Lecture titled "Goings and Comings: Changing Patterns of Infectious Diseases in India" has been organised by the School of Public Health, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research.

Professor Rajesh Kumar, Head, School of Public Health delivered the welcome address and highlighted the public health milestones of the Institute. The Department of Community Medicine which was started in 1977, was upgraded as School of Public Health in 2004. MPH course started on 27 July seven years ago. Dr. K.L.N. Rao, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatric Surgery and Acting Dean, PGIMER, introduced the speaker Dr. Richard Alan Cash, Director, Program on Ethical Issues in International Health Research, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA.  He expounded on the contribution of Dr. Richard Cash in Public Health, particularly his role in   development of Oral Rehydration Therapy which has saved many lives. Dr. Richard Cash described the changing patterns of infectious diseases. While the decline was attributable to innovations in vaccines, better diagnostic and treatment facilities, other factors were also responsible. He emphasized that one should be prepared to face challenges posed by infectious diseases in future. About 250 academicians and public health practitioners attended the Lecture.  

 

Startup 3 Days Weekend Programme Culminates

Chandigarh 28^th July:- The three-days Startup Weekend programme which were organised by Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) and the Chandigarh Administration's Department of IT at Entrepreneur Development Centre (EDC) Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park culminated here today. From amongst the 89 participants who came up with their own ideas, 15 were shortlisted finally and the teams were formed accordingly to further develop their business plans which were judged by a panel of jury comprising Sofi Zahoor, Senior Director HR of Quark Media, Atul Gupta of Red Alkemi, and Sameer Guglani of Morpheus.  David Lilliott, Deputy High Commissioner of UK was the chief guest, gave away the prizes to the top three teams. Charanjit Singh Kalra and his team who presented the EzzeSpray idea that reduced the consumption of pesticides protected the farmer from pesticide fumes. First runnersup were Hyonize and Team4U won the third prize.

He also informed that around 120 one to one B2G meetings have been tied up for next two days which itself speaks volumes about the scale of this initiative. He further said that discussions held with State Governments during previous editions of the event has led to framing of new investor friendly industrial policies as well as to certain investment facilitative amendments in the existing policies.

SKATING PRODIGY OF HALLMARK TO BE HONOURED BY UNION HUMAN RESOURCE MINISTER

Chandigarh 25^th July:-B. Pranay Goud, a skating child prodigy of Hallmark Public School, Panchkula, will be awarded and honoured by the Hon'ble Human Resource Minister, India for his achievements in sports. 

Mrs. Kavita Wadhwa, Principal, Hallmark Public School, that we have received a letter from Ministry of Human Resources, Government of India; mentioning the selection of B. Pranay Goud, for the felicitation ceremony based on his extraordinary commitment and achievements in sports in 2013-14. The ceremonial event -- 'Celebration of Excellence' organized by the CBSE is to be held from August 13 -15, 2014 at Delhi.

 B. Pranay has been selected by CBSE from a wide field of National level sports' achievers, in the category of 'Skating'. His description reads: Best Skater Boys Under 10 Years. The reason for this is not difficult to fathom. In 2013, he won One Gold & One Silver at CBSE National Games, One Bronze at Roller Skating Federation of India games and One Silver at School Games Federation of India tourney. What's more, he bagged two Gold Medals at the CBSE Inter School Sports & Games Competition 2013-14 and One Gold medal at the CBSE North Zone-1, Skating Championship 2012.

According to Mr. Jivtesh Garg, Director, the school devised such a training time table which did not hinder B. Pranay's studies. So while his practice regimen took place, academics remained undisturbed." Apart from the honour ceremony, B Pranay will also participate in Independence Day Celebrations at Red Fort.

Permanent Lok Adalat Dismisses The Bank Case:Directed The Baank To Recover Rs.5000/-.From Bank Officals

Mohali 24^th July:-- The Permanent Lok Adalat of Mohali today dismissed an application filed by UCO Bank, Khizrabad against Jagmohan Singh of Khizrabad. The Permanent Lok Adalat directed the bank to pay Rs. 5000/- to Jagmohan Singh towards cost of litigation. The Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS) also directed the UCO Bank to recover the amount of loan, interest and cost from its official who instead of releasing the loan amount to Jagmohan Singh paid it to one Ram Lal. The Permanent Lok Adalat was presided by Jagroop Singh Mahal.

During conciliation proceedings it was found that the bank had delivered the cheque of Rs. 39,000/- to Ram Lal from whom Jagmohan Singh was alleged to have purchased the buffaloes. The bank did not hand over the cheque to Jagmohan Singh to ensure delivery of the buffaloes to him from Ram Lal. The loan amount was not deposited in the bank account of Jagmohan Singh nor the bank ensured that the cheque was given to Ram Lal only after the buffaloes are delivered to Jagmohan Singh. The contention of Jagmohan Singh was that neither he got the loan amount from the bank nor Ram Lal sold to him any buffaloes and it was a transaction between Ram Lal and the bank to defraud him by obtaining his signatures on certain papers. Even the subsidy amount though reported to have been released was never paid or deposited in the account of Jagmohan Singh. Jagmohan Singh had reported the matter to Police upon which a criminal case was registered in which the challan has been submitted in Court and charge has been framed against Ram Lal and Sham Lal. Keeping all these facts in view the Permanent Lok Adalat held that the bank has not proved if any loan was advanced to Jagmohan Singh and therefore dismissed their application with litigation cost of Rs. 5000/-. The bank was held entitled to recover the loan amount with interest and cost from those bank officials who had released the loan to Ram Lal instead of Jagmohan Singh.

 

Haryana Chief Minister Introduce General Public Pass System for City Bus Service

Chandigarh 24^th July:- Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today announced to introduce general public pass system for city bus service in Faridabad, Gurgaon and Panchkula so as to enable people to travel at concessional fare in these towns.

While stating this here today, Transport Minister Aftab Ahmed said that the passes would be issued to travel within municipal limits for non-AC and AC buses on monthly, quarterly, half yearly and yearly basis. The rates for monthly bus pass would be Rs.450 and Rs.700 for ordinary buses and AC buses respectively. He said that quarterly bus passes would be issued at the rate of Rs. 1300 and Rs.2000 for ordinary buses and AC buses respectively. Rates for half yearly bus pass would be Rs.2500 for ordinary buses and Rs.3900 for AC buses. Similarly, Rs. 4800 would be charged for yearly bus pass of ordinary buses and Rs.7400 for AC buses. The Minister said that the facility would prove beneficial for general public in a big way. He said that passes would be valid only in the municipal limits of the concerned city and for travel in any city bus of the respective category. There would be no limitation of number of trips. AC pass holders can travel in ordinary city buses but ordinary bus pass holder would not be entitled to travel in AC buses. The passenger would have to carry bus pass in original and produced on demand by the staff, he added. He said that general public bus passes would be issued at each depot headquarter on all working days. The person willing to get general bus pass has to fill up a prescribed form along with a photograph and deposit the same in the depot concerned alongwith requisite fee. The computerized bus pass would be issued the same day. He said that photograph is not required on renewal of such passes.

Dr Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges while giving this information said that this counseling enlightened the students about the various scholarship schemes. He added that the students were made aware about various aspects of Scholarship including eligibility criteria, amount of scholarship, procedure to apply, etc.  Dr Kataria further said that there are various Scholarship Schemes available to SC/ST/OBC students. But students are not fully aware of all those schemes due to which they leave their studies in between as the cost of education is very high. He added that today Aryans tried to help these students by providing them proper counselling.

 

Shemrock School Holds Blood donation Camp

Mohali 24^th July:-- Shemrock School Mohali, today organized Blood Donation Camp at its campus. As many as 43 senior students, teachers & supported staff donated the blood. The Blood Donation Camp was inaugurated by Principal Air Commodore (Rtd.) S.K.Sharma. President M.L Gupta, past presidents Mrs. Sneh Popli and Mr.Sham Rawal also  (Director of youth organization Chd Shivalik) & Rotarion Mrs.Sunanda Jain also graced the occasion. The pre-donation and post-donation care was done under the expert supervision of the team of doctors from the Blood Bank Society of Sec 37 Chandigarh. Blood donors were served snacks before and after the blood donation by the Institution.

Principal S.K.Sharma appreciated the enthusiasm among the students who donated the blood. He further said that if we could motivate people, they will also come forward to donate blood. It creates awareness among the masses that by donating blood we do not lose anything but through this noble act, they could potentially save precious life of some one. He further added that there was hardly any other service to humanity as noble and virtuous as the donation of blood.

 

ANEE’S Schools Organise Plantation Drive

Mohali 24^th July:-- To create awareness amongst the students and the residents  about the importance of trees in life,Anee's  Sen Sec School Mohali & Kharar organized Plantation Drive Day in the school premises. The young students included themselves in number of activities for spreading the message Healthy and Pollution-Free Environment. The school chairman C.A. Mr. Aneet Goel, planted a sapling to commence the event and inspired the children to contribute towards saving our planet and environment. Saplings were distributed to students and teachers also to plant at home.

Mr  Aneet Goyal, Chairman, Anee group of school motivated students keep their surroundings neat and tidy. Apart from this he spoke to the children about the importance of trees. He ignited the young minds into action to safeguard the ecological balance of nature. The inspired them to plant saplings in and outside their school premises and take responsibility to nurture  of them and spend some time in the lap of nature to nurture them. He also motivated the students to use natural resources and asked them to shun the usage poly bags due to their harmful effects on nature.

 The students from classes IV to X prepared placards Green Earth, Healthy Earth and took out a rally holding number of placards and colourful pictures with messages in the city. Through the rally they tried to ignite the spark of love for nature in the society. The rally was flagged off by the school chairman C.A. Mr. Aneet Goel.  Students also took pledge to plant more and more trees to keep their environment greener and cleaner.  Besides this saplings were planted in Mohali and Kharar campus of Anees School  and students  took responsibility to take care these plants .

Artist Launches ‘Jai Kalakar’ Campaign

Chandigarh 23^rd July:- To bring the art and artists's pride on the government agenda some of the topmost artists from the field of art, culture and education arena of City Beautiful came together to support the idea of Prof. D S Kapoor, former Principal of Govt College of Art, Chandigarh. Prof Kapoor's initiative 'Jai Kalakar' was launched at Chandigarh Press Club today. Present on the occasion were Gurcharan Singh Channi (Chairman, Sangeet Natak Akademi), renowned Sculpture Artist Shiv Singh, TV and Film personality Ms Savita Bhatti, Educationist Prof Balwinder Singh, Malkit Singh and Jodh Singh, among others.

While interacting with media Prof D S Kapoor said, that Jai Jawan Jai Kisan was a slogan given to India by Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, who was the Prime Minister of India in 1965. It is a salute to soldiers and the farmers. So popular has been this slogan that many patriotic songs have been written, acted and sung by great Indian Kalkars in the past for feature films on this very slogan. While we hail soldiers who protect our life and the farmers who feed us; shouldn't art also be hailed that washes the dust of daily life off our soul? Therefore, he took the agenda – 'Jai Kalakaar' – Hail the artist!

 He said, that art is the gateway to the soul; it is a medium uniquely well suited to helping us with some of the troubles of inner life. I feel it soothes the inner self and help us overcome our desire for material things, our fear of the unknown, our longing for love, and our need for hope. I request our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to accept my slogan and bestow the honour and pride on India's countless artists who have been instrumental in positioning India as the incredible destination all over the world. He himself being a lover of art, would consider our cause and come forward in support."

Prof Kapoor further said, that Kalakar, in my opinion, plays a spiritual role in society. God is a creator, a supreme Kalakar. He made human beings, animals, birds and the natural world; sunset, sunrise, beaches, mountains, waterfalls, green pastures, lakes, forests etc. Look around, India stands as an example of rich art and craft. Be it the Ajanta and Ellora caves, the Mughal Architecture or the Rajasthani handicrafts – Art takes myriad forms in India and the artists emerge as the sentinels of this heritage. Even the performing arts also come in the category.

 

 

Municipal Corporation Organise Special Cleanliness Drive in Village Kajehri

Chandigarh 23^rd July:- Harphool Chander Kalyan, Mayor, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh today flagged off Cleanliness Drive-cum- Awareness Campaign in Village Kajehri. The drive was carried out in the presence of area Councillor Smt. Sheela Devi and the officials of Sanitation & Pest Control Wing of Municipal Corporation for upkeep of the Village sanitation in addition to regular sanitation. Mayor took note of the parks and roads also in the area. He instructed the concerned officers to start allotted works as earlier as possible.

 This drive was launched in addition to regular sanitation by deploying additional Safaikaramcharies in small groups under the close supervision of the area Health Supervisor/ Chief Sanitary Inspector for getting the public places/ open spaces etc. swept.   Lime dusting was done at all vulnerable places to avoid fly nuisance.

Safai karamcharies also made an impressive rally in publicizing awareness among the residents by carrying placards depicting the messages for the residents to cooperate in sustaining the sanitation of the village. It was also insisted upon not to litter the streets/ open spaces in order to maintain the sanitation of their area.  Information Education and communication (I.E.C.) Activities were done by the Municipal Corporation among the residents in order to bring change in public behaviour as to Management of Solid Waste.  Pamphlets in Hindi/English as to Do's and Don'ts on garbage disposal were distributed amongst the residents.  The residents were educated not to burn garbage/ dry leaves etc. as it causes air pollution.It was stressed through public address system that no littering be done by the public in order to keep their area clean.

 

The British School, Celebrates French Day

Chandigarh 17^th July:- To celebrate French Day, Students of The British School, Chandigarh participated in an Intra-class French Group song competition. The entire exercise was conducted in order to build French speaking skills in the students and at the same time inculcate a love for different cultures.To make the celebrations more colourful, a healthy salad competition in which the junior wing students participated was also organised. Creativity of both parent and student was evident in the beautiful display of peacocks carved out of vegetables, watermelon fruit baskets and bicycles created from capsicum. The event not only helped students unwind and enjoy themselves but also built their Inter-personal skills.

Mrs. Mona Sethi, Principal, said that the French Day celebration was an activity, which helped students gain awareness about France and the French language. The Salad competition was an icing on the cake and a good way to wrap up the event.

According to Mannat a student who took part in the French Day Celebrations, said that it was an exciting activity I learnt more about French culture and enjoyed the salad competition too.

 

 

Orientation Program For Students at Anee’s School

While new Beginning of life started, Children enjoyed their welcome Party. They were shown movies related to studies and their favourite cartoons. They learned values through these movies and helped to improve their listening skills.

Aneet Goel, Chairman, Anee's group of schools was the  chief guest. He discussed the personality traits. He emphasized the importance of positive attitude, dedication, commitment and discipline. He added that students should aim high to achieve the chosen positive goal of life. Aneet Goel also stressed on need of updating of knowledge by making use of the well furnished library of the school and excellent Internet facility.  While addressing the newcomers, He said that she had great faith in students who would soon realize that their decision of choosing Anee's has proved to be a fruitful one. He said that the institute offers a right blend of traditional and modern cultural, academic and professional opportunities for overall development.

After the warm welcome party Children were taken to nearby fields to experience harvesting season. They were exposed to seasonal crops, food obtained from wheat crop. Daily routine food products were shown during the fields. Life is discovery, new day, new experience. PB,BUDGET 2014-15:PHD CHAMBER WELCOMES SKILL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE OF PUNJAB GOVERNMENT

Chandigarh 16^th July:- R S Sachdeva, Co-Chairman, Punjab Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the skill development initiatives of the Punjab Government. He also Indicated that the stress on the creation of Skill Development infrastructure in the Budget presented by Punjab Finance Minister, here today, would lead to furnishing of the requisite skilled manpower to the industry. He added that the upgradation of Technical Education department to Department of Technical Education and Skill Development would definitely lead to meeting up the skill development needs of the State. Chandigarh International Civil Air Terminal being functional by December, 2014 would surely better the connectivity and give the growth of the area a boost.

 However, describing poor infrastructure at industrial zones as a hindrance for growth, the industry has demanded more funds to be earmarked for the upkeep and maintenance of focal points and industrial areas,  R S Sachdeva  said, that there is an urgent need to maintain and upgrade industrial areas and focal points and the state government should address this issue, We request the government to review the iron and steel sector, which was put in negative list of industries in the industrial policy, so as to enable the sector attract new investments.

Dalip Sharma, Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry welcomed the proposal of setting up of a Multi Skill Development Center at Ludhiana with a training capacity upto 10,000 candidates annually, which would help the local youth to come into the employment fold. Dalip Sharma further said, that proposals to set up Footwear Development and Design Institute at Banur, IT City at Mohali, 1600 acre Educity, 1700 acres IT City, besides a Medicity and upgradation of 6 ITIs would enhance the skill sets of the youth in the State and make them employable.

 

 

ZEE Cinestars Ki Khoj Aspirants Visit Chandigarh

Being the lead vocalist of his rock band, Abhimanyu is an all-rounder. He said that apart from acting and singing, he plays guitar, writes and composes his own songs.  Whereas Haryana girl Meenu Panchal shared that she was also a part of Dance India Dance season 2 and was amongst the Top 8 contestants. Being inspired by Salman Khan, she believes in striving hard and doing all it takes to make it big someday. With the judges thinking of her as a fairly mature actor, she stands a good chance at being selected for the 'Blockbuster Barah'. She said that she did lots of assignments as a assistant choreographer with renowned choreographer.

 With the judges panel consisting of a renowned director like Vijay Krishna Acharya and the gorgeous SonaliBendre, the award-winning filmmaker AnuragBasu, joins the panel starting next week. The channel and production houses Essel Vision Pvt Ltd and TrompeL'oiel  MediaPvt Ltd. are considering other various mentors from the industry who will come in at various points to coach and help the contestants give their best. Aryans Holds “Aryans Admission cum Scholarship Counselling”

Mohali 16^th July:-- "Aryans Admission cum Scholarship Counselling" has been organized by Aryans Group of Colleges at its Campus situated on Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, Near Chandigar, in which more than 100 students took part. Out of this, 13 students were selected for 50% scholarship and 3 students for 100% scholarship in various courses. The selection was done on merit cum means basis.

 

 Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group of Colleges while giving this information said that under Dr Kiran Bedi Scholarship Scheme, Aryans decided to give scholarship to 25 meritorious students out of which 5 students would get 100% scholarship and 20 students would get 50% scholarship. He added that after today's counseling, 2 seats are left for 100% scholarship and 7 seats are left for 50% Scholarship. Dr Kataria told that the students who have passed 10th, 12th and Graduation participated in the Counselling today and took admission in Professional courses like MBA, BBA, BCA, B.A., B.Tech 1st Year (Civil, Mechanical, CSE, EEE & ECE), B.Tech (LEET),  B.Ed, B.Com,  Polytechnic, Nursing (GNM), +1, etc Prof A P Jain, Director, Aryans Group said that today, first of all the students participated in a special counseling session in which they were made aware about the eligibility criteria, subjects, fees, Career Prospects etc. of all the courses according to their qualification. Then Aryans experts handled the queries of the students. He further told that after that the eligible candidates participated in Scholarship Interviews and few meritorious students were given scholarship on the spot.

 

Prof B S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans Group said that there are various career options available to the students after completing 10th, 12th and Graduation. But students are not fully aware of all those options, due to which either they go by the choice of their friends or sometimes choose such courses which have less career prospects. Complementing the Finance Minister & state Government for presenting a balanced and welfare oriented Budget, Sanjeev Pahwa, Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Managing Director, Ralson India Limited remarked that, the focus of the budget seems more towards social sector development with emphasis towards development of Infrastructure in Power, Roads, Rural Water Supply & Sanitation, Skill Development & Health. As no new Budgetary announcements or allocations have been done to promote either new or existing Industry on the pretext of the provisions announced in the newly released Punjab Investment Policy 2013. Sanjeev Pahwa hoped that Government will do well, if it implements the provisions of its New Industrial & Investment policy 2013 in letter and spirit.

Harish Chavan, Vice Chairman, CII Punjab State Council & Chief Operating Officer, Mahindra & Mahindra (FES) complimented the state Government's decision to invest in developing the human resource of the state by setting up a Multi Skill Development Centre under PPP mode in Ludhiana. He also appreciated the Government's intent to develop Physical Infrastructure of Roads & Bridges including earmarking Rs 500 Crores for rural link roads & upgradation of rural roads. He suggested that the state Government may like to allocate some money for strengthening Physical Infrastructure in Focal Points, Industrial Areas & also around Industry located in rural areas.

D L Sharma, Past Chairman CII Punjab State Council & Director Vardhman Textiles Limited lauded the state Government's focus towards addressing the issues of Drug de addiction, providing affordable healthcare, and developing the human resource of the state by skilling the youth. He hoped this would go long way in creating productive manpower as per Industry requirements and bridging the Industry academia gap.

Pikender Pal Singh, Regional Director, Northern Region, complimented the Finance Minister for doing a reasonable job by walking the tightrope considering the given fiscal constraints. He appreciated the Minister's intent to go for financial consolidation besides the setting up of institutes such as AIIMS, IIM and developing new smart cities will help in unlocking tremendous growth potential of the state.

 

Anee’s School Celebrates Father’s day

Mohali 15^th July:-- To honor the symbol of strength and support, father's day was celebrated at Anee's School, Mohali & Anee's School Kharar . The children put up a cultural show for their fathers who were cordially invited and were also felicitated with flowers and hand-made cards by their children. Children spoke a few lines on their father; little ones sang songs, poems for their fathers. The fathers were also given an opportunity to show their love for their children this was followed by fun and frolic; fathers enjoyed participating in different games like soccer, leg race, 1min show and tell, foot race. Bond between fathers and daughters is very special; to make this more enjoyable father were asked to tie plaits of their daughters. Gifts were distributed to the winners. Fathers also spoke few lines on this occasion.

 

 Director Aneet Goel delivered a message about the importance of father in the overall development of a child. He said at this occasion that the bonding between a mother and child is definitely stronger. She brings up the children and hence emotions towards her are much more. The father is perceived just as a provider and an authoritarian figure. A slow change is creeping in. Fathers are trying to do things with their children and closeness is coming. While Mother's Day was celebrated in scores of schools, Father's Day is not celebrated in few schools, due to summer vacations even it was not possible but today we are celebrating this event at Anee's group of Schools.

 

Principal Mrs. Harpreet Grewal wished fathers on father's day and discussed about the strong need of fathers in upbringing of children. At the end, cakes were also cut and gifts were distributed to the participants.
