9th Annual Sports Meet 2026 Concludes with Great Zeal at CGC University, Mohali

Mohali, Mar.01, 2026:-The three-day '9th Annual Sports Meet 2026', organized by the School of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at CGC University, Mohali, concluded with a phenomenal display of athletic fervor and sportsmanship. The event brought together students and faculty as one family, showcasing the vibrant energy of youth. The meet commenced with a grand 'March Past', instilling a sense of discipline and competitive spirit across the campus.

On this occasion  Jiwanjot Singh Teja, Dronacharya Awardee and Coach of the Indian Archery Team (Director Training & Curriculum, Punjab), attended as the Chief Guest and inspired athletes to dream big and work hard. Joining him as special guests were  Vineet Kumar, Deputy Director General and Senior Executive Director, Sports Authority of India (SAI) NSNIS Patiala, and  Sarpreet Singh, Sub-Inspector with Punjab Police and National Cycling Champion, who emphasized the importance of sports ethics.

Various competitions including 100m, 200m, 400m races, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, and Javelin Throw were held. Among the students, Mukul was declared the Best Athlete (Men) and Mehul Bisht as the Best Athlete (Women). For the year 2025-26, Lakshay Zindal and Jagriti Tiwari were honored as the Best Sports Persons of the Year. Relay races and mixed relay events remained the center of attraction, showcasing excellent teamwork. University management stated that such events aim to foster holistic development and instill fitness and discipline. The event concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners.
