Chandigarh, Feb.21, 2026:- Livasa Hospital Mohali has successfully performed a high-risk, life-saving airway stenting procedure using rigid bronchoscopy in a 38-year-old woman suffering from advanced breast cancer with chest involvement. The complex case was managed by Dr. Kritarth, Consultant – Pulmonary Medicine, along with a multidisciplinary team from pulmonology, critical care, and anesthesia.
The patient presented in a critical condition with severe breathing difficulty caused by tumor spread that obstructed both the right and left main airways. She required non-invasive ventilatory support, and her condition was life-threatening. The procedure posed significant technical challenges, as the tumor tissue was extremely fragile and prone to bleeding on contact.
Despite these risks, the expert team successfully placed an airway stent, restoring patency of the airways and stabilizing her breathing. Following the intervention, the patient showed dramatic improvement and was discharged breathing comfortably on room air without ventilatory support.
Dr. Kritarth said that airway stenting in such complex situations demands precision, experience, and seamless teamwork. In this case, the obstruction involved both main bronchi and the tumor was highly vascular, which made the procedure technically demanding. The successful outcome reflects the strength of coordinated multidisciplinary care.
Anurag Yadav, CEO, Livasa Hospitals, stated that this case highlights our commitment to delivering advanced, high-end medical care even in the most critical scenarios. Our teams are equipped with cutting-edge technology and expertise to handle complex conditions with safety and compassion.
