Value Added Course on ‘Capacity Building of Prospective Teachers on Applied Skills’ Organised

Chandigarh, May 24, 2023:-A value added course of 30 hours on 'Capacity Building of prospective teachers on applied skills' was organized  at Government College of Education, Sector 20D, Chandigarh by the skill development committee of the college. The program aimed at enhancing the personal and professional development of participants.

Principal, Dr. Sapna Nanda extended a hearty welcome to the Chief Guest Dr. Nemi Chand, State Liaison Officer NSS, Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh. Dr. Nemi Chand in his valedictory address sincerely appreciated the Principal and the organizing team comprising of Dr. Balwinder Kaur head of skill development committee along with team members- Dr. Neelam Paul, Dr. Kusum, Dr. Ravneet Chawla, Dr. Aarti Bhatt, Dr. Upasna Thapliyal, Sanjeev Kumar for arranging such an enriched and hands-on experience sessions for the upcoming teachers. He congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue practicing the skills learned on the program to unlock their full potential and excel in their personal and professional lives. In the presence of Dr. Nemi Chand, the college magazine "The Educational Observer" 2021-22 and 2022-23 was also released.

This  value added course was organized from 17 to 24 May 2023 and it comprised a series of interactive sessions that tackled key life skills such as communication, leadership, time management, problem-solving, and stress-management. Through this comprehensive approach, participants gained invaluable knowledge and practical tools that can help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals. Participants were encouraged to actively participate, share their experiences, and apply the concepts learned in real-life situations. As a result, the program was well-received, and participants consistently reported high levels of satisfaction and confidence in their abilities following the sessions.

Resource persons Dr. Nirmal Dutt, former Professor DAV College Sector 10, Chandigarh, Ms Manisha Sharma, Yoga therapist, GRIID, Jaswinder Singh, DSP and his team of Chandigarh traffic police team, Mrs. Indu Aggarwal, Disha Consultants, Chandigarh, Maninder singh Bajwa, Espanza Innovations Mohali, Abinav, Chaitanya Career Consultants, Mohali, Mrs. Chanranjeet kaur, Assistant Prof, Dev Samaj College of education, Chandigarh, Anand Mohan Sharma, Jan Shikshan Sanstha Mohali, Dr. M. Dhrakshayani, HOD and Associate Professor, Dept. Of Home Science, PGGCG 11, Chandigarh, Dr. Jasvir Chahal, former Vice-Principal, GCE20, Navdeep Singh, Kacchi Sadak Foundation, Prabhu Nath Sahi, Director Jai Madhusudhan, Sri Krishna Foundation from diverse fields enlightened the pupil teachers with applied skills for the teaching profession.

Principal Dr. Sapna Nanda appreciated the organizing committee and the students for their enthusiastic participation in the training program. The training ended on a positive note and the few participants Ms. Shachi and Ms. Isha shared their testimonials and expressed gratitude towards the program's organizers for the valuable opportunity provided. Dr. Balwinder Kaur, the convener of the training program extended vote of thanks to all the Chief Guest of the day for their kind presence and incubating the life skills ideas among the prospective teachers of the college.
