Verka opens 24 ultra modern milk booths

Mohali 27th January:- Verka has opened 24 ultra modern milk booths in the S.A.S Nagar to sell its products. Now, the residents will be able to get milk and milk products from near their houses

Divulging this, Deputy General Manager (Marketing) Mrs. Neelam said that the booths opened in the district have been allotted to physically handicapped and unemployed. She also conveyed that these are selling various products manufactured by verka e.g.- Curd, Yoghurt, Paneer, Lassi, Desi Ghee, Namkeen Lassi, Sweet Lassi, Gachak, Rewri etc. She said that 4 more such booths are proposed to be opened in the district. She further elaborated that  verka milk plant is collecting 4 lakh kilos of milk on daily basis and 3 lakh 56 thousand 412 litre is supplied to various cities daily. She informed that 1124 sabhas are associated with the milk plant having 65 thousand 338 members. Apart from this, 340 dairy farms are also attached with it. Giving more information she said that during 2013-14,  32 percent more curd, 24 percent plain lassi, 13 percent paneer and 12 percent kheer have sold in comparison with the previous year, which is a record.

According to her, during the festive season milk plant sold 1.38 lakhs of boxes containing sweets made of desi ghee and also milk plant gives the highest rate of milk in entire Punjab to the producers. During 2013-14, 346.28 crores of rupees were given to sabhas as price of milk. Besides this, 22 thousand 486 metric tonnes of cattle feed and 2279 quintal seeds of green chara were sent to the sabhas. She also said that milk producing members are provided with free medical help for the purpose of getting their animals examined and 6 veterinary mobile vans are working for this purpose in which expert doctors examine the animals free of cost at sabha level and 1 lakh 45 thousand 162 animals have been administered injections for breed improvement. Now, the capacity of this plant for milk maintenance has been increased to the levelof 5 lakh litres daily.
