Mohali, Oct.26, 2026:-With the objective of educating youth about road safety rules and inspiring them to lead a drug-free life, a special awareness session on traffic rules and the adverse effects of drugs was organized for students by the Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Phase 2, Mohali. On this occasion, senior Punjab Police officer, DSP and Head of Mohali Traffic Police, Karnail Singh, and ASI Janak Raj shared their insights with the students. The main objective of the session was to inspire youngsters to become responsible citizens, follow safety rules on roads, and play their part in making society drug-free.

DSP Karnail Singh, while informing students about the importance of traffic rules, stated that to avoid road accidents, it is essential to wear helmets, fasten seat belts in cars, adhere to speed limits, and avoid using mobile phones while driving. He noted that road safety is not just a legal obligation, but a vital means to save precious lives—one's own and others'.

ASI Janak Raj acquainted the youth with the negative impacts of drugs, stating that substance abuse severely affects an individual's health, family, and social life. He advised students to channel their energy into studies, sports, cultural activities, and other constructive pursuits. He also mentioned that if anyone receives information regarding illegal drug sales or other suspicious activities in their area, they can contribute to societal betterment by informing the police or concerned authorities.

To make the session more interactive and impactful, an interactive quiz, short awareness competitions on traffic rules, and discussions on road safety scenarios were conducted with the students. Students were encouraged to create awareness messages regarding the use of helmets and seat belts, compliance with traffic signals, and staying away from drugs. Additionally, students interacted directly with police officers, asking questions regarding traffic rules, police awareness campaigns, and anti-drug operations.
