Chandigarh, Sept.18, 2026:-Congress joint secretary and Ward 10 resident Ranjot Singh has alleged financial irregularities in the allotment of tenders for renovation works at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Sector 28, and the community centre in Sector 29.
Addressing a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club, Ranjot Singh questioned the process of awarding the renovation tender for the Sector 28 ITI. He alleged that the tender was issued at 4 pm, while the institute’s principal retired at around 5.30 pm the same day, raising questions about what transpired during the intervening period.
Ranjot Singh further claimed that the value of the ITI tender was initially stated to be around ₹3,000 crore but was later shown as ₹300 crore. He demanded that the records and tendering process be examined to establish the facts.
Regarding the Sector 29 community centre, Singh alleged that old bricks were being used during the renovation despite the tender specifications requiring new material. He sought an inquiry into the alleged irregularities and said he would approach Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria for an investigation.
Asked about two cases allegedly filed against him by Davinder Singh Babla in the Mohali and Chandigarh cyber cells, Singh said the timing coincided with the election season and asserted that he was not afraid of such cases.
Ward 10 Congress president Sukhwinder Singh and others were also present.
