Nawanshahr, Aug.29, 2026:--A 32-year-old man with severe and deep burns sustained in a fire incident involving a dry husk trolley was treated at Livasa Hospital, Nawanshahr recently. The patient was presented with extensive burns involving his face, neck, back, both arms and both feet, requiring immediate resuscitation and intensive care.
Immediate stabilization was initiated in Livasa’s emergency and it continued in the ICU Unit under the coordinated supervision of the hospital's plastic & reconstructive surgery and critical care teams including Dr Ashikesh Kundal, consultant–plastic & reconstructive surgery, Dr Sameer Sharma, senior consultant–anaesthesia & critical care, and Dr Aninderdeep Wander, consultant–anaesthesia & critical care.
The patient’s vital organ functions were continuously monitored, while individualized wound care, regular dressings, antibiotics guided by wound sensitivity reports, nutritional support and other supportive measures were provided throughout his treatment.
The patient's right arm and hand sustained the most extensive injuries. He underwent debridement to remove infected and dead tissue, followed by split thickness skin grafting (STSG) using skin harvested from his thighs to provide coverage to the affected areas.
