Chandigarh, Aug.11, 2026:-Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, organized its 322nd Monthly Baithak on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the M. L. Koser Auditorium, Sector 35-B, Chandigarh. The evening featured a captivating classical vocal recital by young and talented vocalist Archi Bhattacharyya, who enthralled the audience with his melodious voice, refined musicality and expressive rendition of Indian classical music.
Archi, a promising and well-trained artiste of the younger generation, demonstrated remarkable command over raag, taal and bhava, leaving a lasting impression on the music lovers present at the auditorium.
The programme commenced with Raag Miyan Ki Malhar, perfectly complementing the monsoon season. Archie began with the vilambit composition “Karim Naam Tero” set to Ektaal, presenting an evocative and soulful elaboration of the raag. His sensitive handling of the melody and nuanced vocal expression created an enchanting musical atmosphere.
He then presented the madhya laya composition “Umad Ghan Ghumad” in Ektaal, bringing alive the beauty and mood of the monsoon through his expressive singing. This was followed by the drut composition “Bole Re Papihara” in Teentaal, which infused the performance with energy and received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Continuing the recital, Archie presented Raag Megh, featuring a madhya laya composition “Prabal Dal Badal” in Jhaptal, composed by his grandfather and guru, Pandit Manas Chakraborty. The rendition reflected his deep understanding of the raag, rhythmic precision and expressive command, and was highly appreciated by the audience.
The recital concluded with a soulful Kajri in Raag Bhairavi, through which Archie once again won the hearts of the listeners. His graceful and emotive presentation brought the evening to a melodious and memorable conclusion.
Archie Bhattacharyya was ably accompanied by the talented tabla artiste Rupak Mitra from Kolkata, whose sensitive and accomplished tabla accompaniment enhanced the rhythmic richness of the performance. Pandit Dinkar Sharma provided equally impressive accompaniment on the harmonium, complementing the vocalist throughout the recital.
The programme witnessed an encouraging presence of music lovers and connoisseurs of Indian classical music. The audience deeply appreciated the evening and described it as a memorable musical experience filled with melody, emotion and artistic excellence.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Shobha Koser, Registrar, and Sajal Koser, Secretary, Pracheen Kala Kendra, expressed their gratitude to all the music lovers and guests for their enthusiastic participation.
The artistes and accompanists were felicitated with uttariya and mementoes as a token of appreciation.
