Chandigarh, Apr.22, 2026: -Speakers’ Association and Study Circle (SAASC) club of Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Chandigarh inaugurated the 13th edition of PECMUN, one of the premier MUNs of North India, on 18th-19th April, 2026, with guidance and support from Dean Student Affairs.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Ms. Amandeep Kaur, Professor In charge for SAASC, the club organizing the Conference. In her address, Ms. Kaur emphasized the critical relevance of the United Nations in the contemporary global landscape, specifically citing current geopolitical tensions. Furthermore, she underscored the collective responsibility of the youth in upholding international peace and security. The air was filled with anticipation as delegates then immersed themselves in the melodious strains of musical performances by Music Club of PEC.
Following this, the committee sessions commenced across various Committees, including UNHRC, UNSC, UNCSW, AIPPM, and UNGA, each delving deep into crucial global issues with an engaging, insightful and intellectual discourse. Adding a unique dimension, the IP committee sparked creativity via photography, caricature and journalism.
More than 150+ students from various colleges, universities and schools of the likes of NIT Jalandhar, AIL Mohali, St. Johns High School, BVC, Mt. Carmel, etc. participated in the event. The event was sponsored by LIC India, McDonald's, HYPEDIN and Bluora. After 5 sessions being conducted on both the days, the draft resolutions were made and multiple motions were passed.
The Closing Ceremony was convened by the Secretariat of the event on the last day, felicitating the outstanding performers and expressing gratitude to the Organizing Committee. Yet again, PECMUN emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in this rapidly shifting geopolitical environment by successfully convening this 2-day Conference.
