MCM Holds National Musical Instruments' Working Model Making Competition

Chandigarh July 10, 2021:- The Department of Music at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organised 'Srijan'- an online National level Musical Instruments' Working Model Making Competition. The aim of the competition was to develop a deeper sense of understanding of musical instruments among the budding artists. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation wherein the participants made working models of musical instruments and submitted their videos of playing their respective instrument. From working models of snake charmer bean to flute, damru, tumbi, the participants made awe-inspiring models of traditional Indian musical models, showcasing their creative acumen. The winners were awarded cash prizes and e-certificates. 

Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded this initiative of the Music Department to promote artistic talent. She added that such competitions are important for bringing out the creative potential of students and motivating them to excel in their field. 

The results of the competition:-

First Prize- Arshjot Singh (Instrument- Snake Charmer Bean), Govt. College, Sunam
Second Prize-Satinder Singh (Instrument- Tumbi), Panjab University, Chandigarh 
Third Prize- Samridhi (Instrument- Damru), Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh.
