Oakridge International School organise Seminar on Drug Abuse & Say No To Tobacco

Chandigarh 01st June:-  Oakridge International school conducted an awareness seminar on" Drug Abuse & say no to tobacco" for the students. The seminar was organised with the help of Dr Gautam Goel, oncologist from Max Hospital. Students were explained that a drug can be said to be any substance use in medicine. It can also be said to be any substance taken by some people to get certain effect, such as happiness or excitement. Dr Gautam told that there are two primary causes of drug abuse among the youths that is peer pressure and depression.

According Dr Gautam Goel, the major cause of drug abuse is unemployment among the youth. Furthermore, drugs can be said to be abused when youth don't keep to the prescribe dosage and a continuous use of a particular drug for a long time without doctors approval. This kind of abuse is associated with soft drugs.

While speaking at the moment Principal Ramanjit Ghuman said that precaution is better than cure. Without the correct guidance and awareness the children will be unable to understand their responsibility in the fight against drugs.
