NIIFT, Students Showcase Design Collections in ‘Suvyan 15’

Chandigarh 26th May:- The students of Textile Design Department, Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT), Mohali  showcased their 7th annual design collection show 'Suvyan 15' at NIIFT today. 'Suvyan' is a design collection show where three years of meticulous training is presented in the form of home décor & furnishing products created individually by students. Each student worked on three themes individually. These collections have been created by students with the entire support from industry and dedicated faculty. SR Ladhar IAS, Director General, NIIFT the chief guest during occasion appreciated the hard work and efforts put in by the students. In all 22 collections were displayed by students this time fulfilling the needs of international standards and as per market demand.  

Anju worked on three collections inspired by gorgeous theme of tenica nastro, geometrical patterns and flora. She used ribbon technique for ornamentation of cushion collection. Sanghmita collections were inspired by elegant theme of shore, rejuvenated craft and circus.  Sponsored by "K Wardrobes", Chatterpur, her work showed the concern with the plants, animals and other organisms that live in the ocean. Rakhi's work collections were inspired by attractive theme of mid-night moon, a portrait and a beautiful sun flower flawlessly shining in the sky. The work of Neha Nupur was inspired by stunning theme of geo exploration, tribal and marine. Whereas Rohit collections were inspired by attractive theme of Daichi- off to sea and iron maiden. Arzoo Oberoi work which was sponsored by 'Handfab Living, Panipat' related to the mixture of dusty colors in romance, which kept it different and interesting. Neha Thakur inspired from dazzling theme indicative of blue indigo, brushed blooms and artist's cocoon.

Ankush, collections were inspired by gorgeous themes of blurred –up, fresh nordiac and persian pickle. The collection was inspired by persian carpets because of its color scheme, and paisley is also gave traditional look to design. Kunal Rajan inspired by elegant theme of mystic mandala, faux painting and artistic expression.

Khushboo's art pieces were sponsored by 'Contential furnishing', Delhi and her collections spoke of Discovery, Mixology and Memory. Rahul's work was sponsored by ''Home Décor'', Noida. He worked on illusion, playing cards and geometrical shapes. He used brilliant color illustrations which chart a voyage of infatuation, growth, separation, and reunion that made this the gift book for the valentine season. Tamanna Oberoi collections were inspired by gorgeous theme of Perfect Moroccan, Sun God Art and Aztec Tribal. Her themes were designed with a spectrum of elegant blends and color combinations.

The students were guided by their mentors including Ms. Shweta Sharma, Course Co-coordinator, Textile Design Dept, Ms. Deepti Sharma, Asst. Professor and Ms. Indeep Kaur the guest faculty.

Speaking during occasion, K S Brar, Director, NIIFT said that fabric was the root of any creation. Students have done a great job in creating good marketable products according to the customer demand. We were confident that our students would meet the challenges posed by the industry successfully. Inderjit Singh, Registrar, NIIFT also praised students work.

Meanwhile NIIFT is ranked 6th in the country according to a survey conducted by Outlook Magazine in June, 2014. Keeping pace with the rising standards of education and as per requirements of the human resources of the Industry, NIIFT provides B.Sc and M.Sc Degrees. The admission for all courses has already been started which will be on till May28.
