THE BRITISH SCHOOL, CHANDIGARH TO ORGANISE 4TH PITCH & PUTT GOLF TOURNEY

Chandigarh 02^nd June:--            The 4th Junior & Sub Junior Pitch 'n' Putt Golf Tournament for Boys & Girls is being organized at The British School Golf Academy's 9-Hole Miniature Golf Course,Chandigarh. The tournament will be held from 7th till 8th June for golfers in the age group of 6 to 18 years. The infrastructure for the tournament will be provided by The British School Golf Academy while the Academy of Golf, Chandigarh Golf Club will make available technical support.

 

Giving more detail about the tournament, Manjit Kochar, Jt Director, Academy of Golf, Chandigarh Golf Club said, that the participants will play two rounds of golf (9 holes each day).  The categories will be A (16-18 yrs), B (13-15 yrs), C (10-12 yrs), D (below 10 yrs) & E (beginners-only putting).Prizes will be awarded in all categories to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. There will be special prizes for hole­in­one and nearest to the pin on both the days.

 

According to Mrs. Mona Sethi, Principal, The British School, Chandigarh, that their school is one of the few in the region which have a first class miniature golf course in its premises. Over 100 children are expected to participate in the tournament. This year a special putting competition for mothers of the participating children will be an added attraction.

 

R S Virk, In Charge, Junior Golf Development Programme, Chandigarh Golf Club said that the entries for the tournament will be accepted till 5 PM on 5th June. Those registering will be familiarized with the course, through a practice round on June 6 from 8-10 AM. He added that they provide talented junior golfers an opportunity to play the game in a professional manner by holding camps for them at the club. The other way we encourage young golfers is by conferring coaching & technical support to schools like The British School, Chandigarh which are propagating the game amongst youngsters.

 

Mr. I.P.S Mann, Vice President, Chandigarh Golf Club will inaugurate the event on June 7. The two day tournament will culminate with a Prize Distribution ceremony in the evening of June 8 and the Chief Guest will be Mr S.P.S Ghai, Captain, Chandigarh Golf Club.
