District Legal Services Authority, Mohali Celebrates National Law Day

Mohali 26th November:--District Legal Services Authority, Mohali today celebrated National Law Day in Shivalik Public School, Mohali.  A seminar was organised in pursuance to directions of National Legal Services Authority of India.  Jagroop Singh Mahal, Chairman of Permanent Lok Adalat Mohali and Tarntaran Singh Bindra, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Mohali mainly addressed the gathering.  District Education officer namely Mewa Singh made special efforts for organising this seminar.  Besides Principals of all Government Schools of District Mohali, this seminar was attended by In-charges of Legal Literacy Clubs, being run in these schools under the guidance of District Legal Services Authority, Mohali.  Senior Citizens, Advocates and students also participated in this seminar. 

Jagroop Singh Mahal, spoke about the various aspects, schemes and functioning of Permanent Lok Adalats.  He requested the public and audience to avail services of Permanent Lok Adalats.  Tarntaran Singh Bindra told gathering the importance of National Law Day.  He paid tribute to unique vision of framers of Constitution of India.  He further told that special provisions have been incorporated in the Constitution for the uplift of weaker section of society including women and children.  He also made public aware about the various schemes of Legal Services Authorities, operating in entire country.  As most of the gathering was belonging to education fraternity, the stress was also given to constitution, working and reporting of Legal Literacy Clubs as Principal and other teachers were having some queries in this regard.

Harbhajan Singh Chopra, Secretary (Finance) of Mohali Senior Citizens Association and Advocate Getanjali Bali disclosed some of the problems, being faced by them while implementing the schemes of Legal Services Authority.  District Education Officer assured full cooperation from him and all school teachers, in future.  On this occasion, prizes were also given to students who were the winners of Poster Making Competition, organised by District Legal Services Authority, Mohali in Bal Bhavan, Mohali on Children's Day (14.11.2013).  Parminder Singh Toor, Advocate, President of Bar Association, Mohali, who had come with his team including Secretary of Bar, Mr. Sarao, took keen interest in understanding all schemes. He assured his full cooperation to Legal Services Authority in achieving its goal.  In the end, Deputy District Education Officer extended vote of thanks to all the participant.
