Chandigarh Book Fair-2013 from 13th to 18th November: Chandigarh Administration Going to Organise:100 publishers Taking Part

Chandigarh 28th September:--- Chandigarh Administration alongwith National Book Trust of India, New Delhi is going to organize "Chandigarh Book Fair-2013"  from 13th to 18th November. The Book Fair will be inaugurated by Shivraj V. Patil, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, on 13th November. The preparations for organizing "Chandigarh Book Fair-2013" have been started in full swing. This was disclosed by V.K. Singh Finance-cum-Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration.

 

While talking to the media in a press conference at a U.T.Guest House V.K. Singh said that to take a review of arrangements being made and for future action plan, a meeting was held today at U.T. Guest House, which was attended by Mrs. Bhawna Garg, IAS, Special Secretary Finance, M.Shayin, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, U.T, Chandigarh-cum- Chairman, Chandigarh Book Fair Committee, Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, IAS, Director Higher Education, Kashish Mittal, IAS, SDM(S) and other members of various committees constituted for the event. 

 
He further added that more than 100 publishers would be participating in the Book Fair from various parts of the Country and number of literary events would be organized during six days of the Fair.  Kavi Darbar, Symposia, Lecture by eminent author, discussion with author, meet the author, calligraphy workshop by renowned calligrapher of the Country and other literary events would be held.  Famous authors from all over the country in Punjabi, Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu would be invited. The Chandigarh Book Fair Committee is making earnest efforts to tie up with eminent authors of national repute.  Separate corners for children activities would be set up.  Street and theatre plays would also go side by side.  Around 50-60 NSS volunteers from different schools and colleges would facilitate the Senior Citizens and children to take a round of the Book Fair.  A common pool of old books would be created, to inculcate the reading habits amongst poor children, in which the libraries as well as general public would beinvited to donate old books which will further be distributed to needy children.  The Education Secretary announced that the Chandigarh Administration will make all efforts to make the Book Fair a grand success and requested the media to provide support and full coverage so that citizens of the Chandigarh and surrounding areas are made abreast of the Book Fair and further to inculcate reading habits among the young children especially.
