Chandigarh 29th September: --- More than 200 enthusiasts participated in a `Walk for the Heart' at Sukhna Lake early morning on Sunday to spread awareness about healthy living. The walk was organised by Alchemist Hospital Panchkula as part of a series of activities planned to mark World Heart Day.
Leading the walk was eminent cardiac surgeon Dr Inderjit Singh Virdi, managing director of Alchemist Hospitals, who, while noting with satisfaction that more and more people were getting health conscious, reiterated the need for everyone to make regular morning walk a habit to stay healthy. Parents should also encourage their children to take to regular walking at an early age so that they grow up habitual walkers, he added. Dr Inderjit Singh said there could not have been a more appropriate venue for the awareness walk than the iconic Sukhna Lake, which is a virtual paradise for morning walkers. The residents of the tri-city should consider themselves blessed to have so many neighbourhood parks and they must take full advantage of this blessing.
T-shirts with printed message of the theme were distributed among all enthusiasts, who included men, women and children of all age groups, besides doctors and staff of the hospital. The one km long walk concluded with all the participants being served healthy refreshments. Regular morning walkers appreciated this gesture on the part of Alchemist Hospital.
