Chandigarh 14th August:- The atmosphere in The British School,chandigarh was different today. It gave a Patriotic look. Tiny Tots became the centre of attraction when some of them dressed up like stalwarts of the freedom struggle. One could meet the legendary Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi; Rani Lakshmi Bai was the apple of everyone's eyes. Some students dressed up like personalities of the post freedom era too. Prominent among these were Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri and Indira Gandhi. The most interesting feature of the celebrations at The British School, Chandigarh was the 'Pyramid of freedom' created by students.
As many as 100 students from Foundation Years till Class X of The British School, Chandigarh presented a mélange of patriotic activities, which created an atmosphere of National pride in the premises of the school's campus today. Cute Foundation Year students presented the song "Jai Ho". Whereas senior students donned Indian colours and made a fascinating pyramid by standing on one another. Class I students sang 'Nanha Munna rahi' while girls sang 'Sare Jahan Se Acha'. A foot tapping dance was presented by Girls on the song 'Desh Mera Rangeela'. All in all the celebration was full of colour and fervour.
While interacting with Media Ms. Mona Sethi, Principal,The British School, said that We tried to create an atmosphere of love for the motherland. The activities today were all encompassing. While there was certainly a focus on patriotic songs and colourful dances, the concept of non violence, was propagated very well by students of class II in a play – 'Ahimsa. Adds Mrs. Sethi, There was a need of good and patriotic leaders in the country & schools should try to develop a national character in its students.
