Chandigarh 19th August:--- The NSS units of MCM DAV College for Women, Chandigarh organized a General Orientation Programme for NSS Volunteers in the college premises. Over 200 students attended the programme and took Sadbhavna Pledge. The volunteers also pledged to work towards emotional oneness and maintaining harmony of India regardless of societal barriers. The programme officers of the NSS units, Dr. Sarita Chauhan and Dr. Kiran Jindal educated the volunteers about aims and objectives of NSS. Dr. Puneet Bedi, Principal of the college congratulated the students for choosing this noble cause to serve the society. She promised her full support to the volunteers for conducting various activities of NSS units.
In an another function the Department of Chemistry of the college organized a lecture on Protein- Structure and Function & Protein Engineering by Prof.Prnanand Guptsharma, Professor, Biology Division, IISER, Mohali. Through some interesting examples from his own research, Prof Purnanand stimulated the students to discover the exciting world of proteins. He also discussed the unique property of the nature to select certain amino acid sequences over others to function. He educated the students in details of structure, function and relationship of proteins. His informative address received an overwhelming response from the students who keenly asked questions and interacted with the expert. The Principal of the college, Dr. Puneet Bedi appreciated the endeavor to promote interaction between the experts and students. She said that such diligent learning platforms expose the students to a wide world of knowledge and learning beyond their curriculum.
