Mohali 26th July:--- Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Jhanjeri, was honoured with the first prize for the best maintained & the greenest institute of the state by International Green Flag Organization (IGFO). The organization, an NGO, has taken up various social activities like planting trees for saving our environment, saving water, minimizing fuel consumption, reducing water, air & noise pollution etc.Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC received the coveted prize from Anil Joshi, Cabinet Minister (Industry & Commerce, Tech. Edu. & Indl. Training), Govt. of Punjab at Panchkula.
Speaking on the occasion, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC & Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC said that while considering their duty to save the nature we always organize go green drives time to time to protect environment, The work was not done for earning publicity but this honour has boost an energy in us
Anil Joshi, Cabinet Minister (Industry & Commerce, Tech. Edu. & Indl. Training),said that Department of Agriculture should take initiative to provide a list to even common man of trees, which are really useful for cleansing & purifying our environment and which can easily grow in the climate of this area & need less water & care for their growth.G.D. Bansal, Director General CGC, Jhanjeri announced that every students will be given one sapling at the beginning of the new session. All of them will be assigned the duty of taking care of this plant for the entire period of their four year stay in the college. This will result in the growth of about one thousand trees in Jhanjeri campus
