Chandigarh Polo Season 2026 Announced, 12 Teams Across the Country to Participate

Chandigarh, Mar.10, 2026:-Chandigarh is set to host the second edition of its official Polo Season following the successful organization of the city's first polo season in 2024–2025. The upcoming season will be conducted under the aegis of the Indian Polo Association and the Chandigarh Polo Association, further strengthening the city's growing reputation as an emerging hub for the sport.

The Chandigarh Polo Season 2026 will take place from 29 March to 4 April 2026 at the Chandigarh Polo Club. The season is organized annually to promote and celebrate the heritage and thrill of polo.

This year, the season is expected to witness participation from 12 teams from across India, including prominent teams such as the Indian Army Artillery Polo Team, Indian Navy Polo Team, Army Service Corps Polo Team, Remount and Veterinary Corps Polo Team, 61 Cavalry Polo Team, Rajasthan Polo Team, Jaipur Polo Team, Eden Polo Team, Golden Greens Polo Team, along with the host team Chandigarh Polo Team and other competing teams from across the country.

The entry to all matches will be free for the public, allowing residents and visitors to experience the excitement of polo up close.

To further promote the sport of polo in Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and across North India, the season will also feature a series of engaging social events alongside the matches. These include a Sufi Baithak Night on the inauguration day, 29 March, the Ladies Boots & Hats High Tea on 3 April, and the grand Gala Night on 4 April 2026.

The event will also be graced by several celebrity guests, distinguished dignitaries, and senior officials, making it a significant social and sporting gathering for the region.

Speaking about the upcoming season, Dilpreet Singh Sidhu, President of the Chandigarh Polo Club, said that Arena Polo is a new format of polo and is far more spectator-friendly. It is an honour that our City Beautiful, Chandigarh, is hosting the Arena Polo Season 2026. We are happy to encourage young boys and girls to take forward the legacy of polo in North India.

Chandigarh, Mar.10, 2026:-चंडीगढ़ एन.एच.एम कर्मचारी संघ के आह्वान पर सभी एन.एच.एम कर्मचारियों — इमरजेंसी मेडिकल ऑफिसर, आयुर्वेदिक मेडिकल ऑफिसर, नर्सिंग ऑफिसर, फार्मेसी ऑफिसर, एल.एच.वी, ए.एन.एम , लैब टेक्नीशियन,डेटा एंट्री ऑपरेटर, टी.बी विभाग में सुपरवाइजर, लैब सुपरवाइजर, टी.बी.एच.वी,112 ड्राइवर व इमरजेंसी मेडिकल टेक्नीशियन, क्लास-4 कर्मचारी तथा अन्य कर्मियों— ने एकजुट होकर काला रिबन लगाकर अपनी रूटीन ड्यूटी निभाई । यह कार्यक्रम एक सांकेतिक रोष प्रदर्शन के रूप में आयोजित किया गया, जिनमें जी.एम.एस.एच 16, सिविल अस्पताल 22, 45 व मनीमाजरा के साथ विभिन्न आयुष्मान आरोग्य मंदिर और डिस्पेंसरी से कर्मियों ने भाग लिए ।

संघ की प्रधान बबीता रावत ने बताया कि हर वर्ष की तरह इस वर्ष भी कर्मचारियों को केंद्रीय शेयर के साथ-साथ यू.टी शेयर मिलना था, लेकिन दिसंबर 2025 बीत जाने के बावजूद अब तक यू.टी शेयर जारी नहीं किया गया । इस संबंध में संघ द्वारा विभाग को दो बार लिखित रूप से अवगत कराया गया, परंतु विभाग की ओर से अब तक कोई ठोस कार्रवाई नहीं की गई । इसी मजबूरी के कारण आज काला रिबन दिवस मनाया गया ।

संघ के चेयरमैन विजय कुमार ने कहा कि यह केवल एक सांकेतिक प्रदर्शन था । यदि विभाग द्वारा शीघ्र कोई निर्णय नहीं लिया गया, तो 18 मार्च 2026 को सेक्टर 16 स्थित एडमिनिस्ट्रेटिव ब्लॉक के सामने रोष प्रदर्शन आयोजित किया जाएगा। इस दौरान सभी एन.एच.एम कर्मचारी अपनी रूटीन ड्यूटी पूरी करने के बाद दो घंटे का 16 अस्पताल में विरोध दर्ज करवाएंगे । मांगें पूरी न होने पर आगे की कड़ी आंदोलन योजना भी घोषित की जाएगी ।

आज का यह सांकेतिक काला रिबन प्रदर्शन अत्यंत सफल रहा । संघ को आशा है कि विभाग हमारी मांगों पर सहानुभूतिपूर्वक विचार करते हुए वित्तीय वर्ष 2025-26 के लंबित यू.टी शेयर एवं एरियर को शीघ्र जारी करेगा ।

Chandigarh, Mar.10, 2026:-भारत विकाश परिषद् चंडीगढ़ की ओर से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय माहिला दिवस मनाया गया । कार्यक्रम में मुख्य आतिथि सुमन शर्मा डिप्टी मेयर ने ज्योति प्रज्वलित कर कार्यक्रम को शुरू किया। इस दौरान भाविप की ओर से विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में सराहनीय कार्य करने वाली महिलाओं को सम्मानित भी किया गया। जिनमें द लास्ट बेंचर की प्रेसिडेंट, क्राफेड महिला विंग की को  

कन्वीनर और भाविप की महिला कन्वीनर सुमिता कोहली सहित पूनम, रिंकू सिन्हा, रीनू मेहंदीरत्ता, साधना दूबे, सुनीता अरोरा, प्रभा मैनी, सीमा महेंदू, नीना मेहता, जसपिंदर कौर, राधिका बंसल, उमा सिंघल और कंचन सैनी इत्यादि के नाम शामिल थे।

Rotary Extends Its Footprint in Tricity & Commemorates Women's Day

Chandigarh, Mar.09, 2026:-Rotary Club of Chandigarh, which was chartered on 10th May 1958, has grown with the city and has kept pace in extending the Rotary to newer areas by sponsoring  various Rotary clubs in Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. This is the 16th Rotary club  in the Tricity area, informed Rotary Club Chandigarh President Abha Joshi Sharma.

Rotary Club of Chandigarh has extended the Rotary footprint in the city with the presentation of the Charter from Rotary International to Rotary Chandigarh Mountview here today. This has been fruitful after the untiring efforts of Past Rotary International President Raja Saboo. 

District Governor Ravi Prakash on his official visit to Rotary Club Chandigarh presented the charter to the new club president, Rtn Dr Ruchit Uppal on this occasion. 

Congratulating the new club, DG Ravi Prakash said that Rotary requires more and more good people who are ready to invest their time to identify 

community needs and join hands with other Rotarians to extend the helping hands to do good in the society and transform lives. 

DG Ravi Prakash accompanied by his spouse Shalini, went around the city to inspect various projects undertaken by the Club during the year and visited "ASHNEER" Human Milk Bank in Mohali, established by her club in January 2025,also told Abha Sharma. The DG Ravi Parkash also attended a Blood donation camp jointly organized by Rotary club Chandigarh , UICET and Enactus NGO.Commemorating  womens day , Sewing Machines  were distributed to 14 women  at the Community Centre, Sector 42.

कोहिनूर की विरासत पर आधारित फिल्म ‘ताज पंजाब’ का पोस्टर जारी

Chandigarh, Mar.09, 2026:-आगामी फिल्म 'ताज पंजाब' का आधिकारिक पोस्टर लॉन्च प्रेस क्लब चंडीगढ़ में आयोजित किया गया। यह आयोजन फिल्म और उसकी क्रिएटिव टीम के लिए एक महत्वपूर्ण पड़ाव साबित हुआ।  प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस और पोस्टर अनावरण का नेतृत्व फिल्म के निर्देशक और कहानी लेखक वीर सचिन ने किया। उन्होंने मीडिया से बातचीत के दौरान प्रसिद्ध कोहिनूर हीरे के ऐतिहासिक महत्व और पंजाब तथा भारत की विरासत से उसके गहरे संबंध पर प्रकाश डाला। फिल्म की कहानी पंजाबी युवा के उस किरदार पर आधारित है जो कि पंजाब की विरासत कोहिनूर हीरे को इंग्लैंड से वापिस अपने वतन भारत में लाने का प्रयास करता है। उन्होंने कहा कि यह फिल्म इस ऐतिहासिक विरासत को सामने लाने के साथ-साथ नई पीढ़ी को अपनी सांस्कृतिक जड़ों से जुड़ने के लिए प्रेरित करने का प्रयास है। 

वीर सचिन ने बताया कि वे कुछ वर्ष पहले लंदन गए जहां उन्होंने एक टूरिस्ट के रूप में एक म्यूजियम में कोहिनूर को देखा। वहीं से उन्हें इस विषय पर फिल्म बनाने की प्रेरणा मिली। फिल्म के को-डायरेक्टर जसप्रीत मान ने भी मीडिया को संबोधित करते हुए फिल्म की परिकल्पना और निर्देशन के बारे में जानकारी साझा की। उन्होंने बताया कि फिल्म की शूटिंग कई स्थानों पर की जाएगी, जिसमें पंजाब के साथ-साथ यूनाइटेड किंगडम में भी महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सों की शूटिंग की योजना है। इससे फिल्म को एक व्यापक ऐतिहासिक और सिनेमाई आयाम मिलेगा।

फिल्म के स्क्रीनप्ले लेखक बेअंत संधू ने भी मीडिया से बातचीत करते हुए फिल्म की कहानी और संवादों के विकास के बारे में जानकारी दी। उन्होंने बताया कि फिल्म की कहानी पंजाब और भारत की जड़ों, इतिहास और सांस्कृतिक पहचान से गहराई से जुड़ी हुई है और कोहिनूर से जुड़ी विरासत से प्रेरित एक सशक्त कथा को सामने लाती है।

SOSONA Highlights Drug Recovery Initiatives, Announces Regional Table Conference in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, Mar.09, 2026:- In an effort to strengthen awareness about drug recovery and extend support to individuals battling addiction, the Society of Service Narcotics Anonymous (SOSONA), also known as Narcotics Anonymous (NA) India, organised a press and public relations meet at the Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27 on Monday. The meet announced the SOSONA Regional Table Conference which is being hosted in Chandigarh from March 9 to 11 at Kissan Bhawan, Sector 35.

The upcoming conference will bring together service leaders, volunteers and members of Narcotics Anonymous from different parts of India to deliberate on strengthening recovery services, expanding outreach programmes and ensuring that the message of hope reaches individuals still suffering from addiction.

Speaking on the occasion, Karamveer Singh, Chairperson of SOSONA, said the organisation remains committed to spreading the simple yet powerful message of recovery. He said that narcotics Anonymous believes that any addict can stop using drugs, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.

Narcotics Anonymous is a global, non-profit fellowship of recovering addicts who support one another in maintaining a drug-free lifestyle through the well-known 12-Step recovery programme.

Globally, Narcotics Anonymous today conducts more than 72,000 weekly meetings in over 140 countries, making it one of the world's largest peer-led recovery networks. In India, NA has been active for more than four decades since its first meeting in Mumbai in 1983. The fellowship has grown steadily and now conducts 471 weekly recovery meetings through 299 groups across the country, offering thousands of recovering addicts a supportive environment to rebuild their lives.

According to Sumit, (Chandigarh Area Public Information Chair), At the local level, the Chandigarh Area of Narcotics Anonymous has emerged as a vibrant recovery community. The fellowship currently operates eight active groups conducting 17 meetings every week across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. Each meeting typically draws 40 to 50 members, while six to eight newcomers regularly attend sessions to begin their journey toward recovery. More than 275 members in the region have accumulated significant clean time and service experience, strengthening the local recovery network.

To ensure easy accessibility in the tri-city region, meetings are held at multiple locations across Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula. In addition, online meetings are conducted daily by the Unity Group from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, allowing individuals to participate virtually and receive support from the recovery community.

The fellowship collaborates with several government initiatives including the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, working alongside social welfare departments of Chandigarh and Haryana to conduct outreach in schools, colleges, hospitals, Ambala Central Jail, Model Jail Burail, juvenile homes and rural communities across Panchkula, Ambala and Yamunanagar. Partnerships with the Mohali Health Department also support awareness at Opioid Agonist Treatment (OAT) clinics.

NA Chandigarh also maintains a dedicated phone helpline (+91 92177 06222) and online services to assist individuals seeking help. 

Meghalaya, Manipur and Mizoram Registered Wins in Plate Group

Chandigarh, Mar.09, 2026:-Meghalaya registered a comfortable six-wicket victory over Nagaland in the Women's U-23 One Day Trophy Plate match being played  under the hosting of UT Cricket Association (UTCA) at the Sector-16 Cricket Stadium on Monday.

Batting first, Nagaland were bowled out for 145 runs in 46 overs. Iluneule Zeliang top-scored with 46 runs, while captain Alemienla contributed 27. For Meghalaya, B. Dkhar and Cheanchi claimed three wickets each. In reply, Meghalaya chased down the target with ease, scoring 146 for 4 in 46 overs. Captain M. Lyngdoh scored an unbeaten 78.

Meanwhile at GMSSS-26, Manipur registered a convincing nine-wicket victory over Sikkim. Batting first, Sikkim were bowled out for 129 in 42.4 overs. Samayita (29) and Nandika (26) were the main contributors. For Manipur, TH Mangalsana (3/24) impressed with the ball. In reply, Manipur comfortably chased the target by reaching 130/1 in 24 overs. Barkatun starred with an unbeaten 104. 

In the third match of the day played at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Panchkula, Mizoram registered a comfortable six-wicket victory over Arunachal Pradesh. Batting first, Arunachal Pradesh were bowled out for 153 in 45.5 overs. Taniya top-scored with 45 while Nabam Rani remained unbeaten on 35. For Mizoram, Zdi (5/22) claimed five wickets. In reply, Mizoram chased down the target comfortably, reaching 154/4 in 34.2 overs. Sawmtluangi anchored the chase with a fluent 58 while Jacinta contributed 41.

Bisht’s Unbeaten 73 Guides UT Girls to Thrilling Win over Saurashtra

Chandigarh, Mar.09, 2026:-A composed and match-winning unbeaten knock of 73 runs by skipper Aaradhna Bisht powered Chandigarh to register a thrilling three wicket win over Saurashtra  at the Women's Under-23 One Day match being played at Dehradun on Monday.

After winning the toss, Saurashtra opted to bat first and posted a total of 175 runs in 45.5 overs. Their innings was anchored by Hirva V (32) while Nidhi Poriya contributed. 

Pushpa Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers by claiming 3 wickets for 33 runs in her 10 overs. Aaradhna Bisht and Parushi Prabhakar chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply, Chandigarh faced early setbacks with 19/3 on the board. Later,  Wicketkeeper Sarah played a crucial innings of 46 runs off 84 balls to compensate for the loss. The defining moment of the match came through skipper Aaradhna Bisht who remained unbeaten on 73 runs off 125 balls and smashed six fours and two sixes. Bisht also stitched a crucial 77-run partnership with Hitanshi, who contributed a valuable 32 runs. 

Despite a few late wickets, Bisht held her nerve and guided the team home as Chandigarh reached 179 for 7 in 48.4 overs.

स्पोर्ट्स मीट के पहले दिन क्रिकेट, फुटबॉल, वॉलीबॉल, बैडमिंटन और शतरंज जैसी प्रतिस्पर्धाओं में विद्यार्थियों ने पूरे जोश और उत्साह के साथ हिस्सा लिया। मैदान में खिलाड़ियों की ऊर्जा और टीम भावना देखने योग्य थी।
