Ten highlights showcasing Roblox’s potential in India from the report:
● India offers a significant, fast-growing market opportunity. With more than 500 million gamers, India has the world’s second-largest gaming population. The report projects video game industry revenues to rise from ₹6,300 crore in 2025 to ₹9,200 crore by 2028—13% annual growth, compared with 5.1% globally. This provides a compelling backdrop for Roblox’s growth in the country
● Roblox is already seeing strong momentum as people discover the platform. Daily active users in India grew at a compound annual rate of 76% between 2020 and 2025, reaching millions of users. That momentum demonstrates growing interest in a platform where people can play, connect and create—not simply consume entertainment
● A rapidly expanding creator economy is taking shape alongside user growth. The number of Indian creators eligible to receive Roblox payouts grew at a compound annual rate of 96% between 2020 and 2025, reaching more than 250 in 2025, while total payouts grew by 72% annually. Among surveyed creators publishing on multiple platforms, Roblox accounts for 61% of their total creation revenue—evidence that participation can develop into a meaningful business opportunity
● Roblox is making creation accessible to people without a traditional game-development background. Some 94% of surveyed Indian creators say they can build games on Roblox with minimal prior experience, and 91% say its development tools and resources are genuinely helpful for learning. Community-led learning is particularly important: 65% first learned through the Roblox community and 62% through YouTube tutorials, illustrating an accessible pathway from discovering the platform to becoming a creator
● Indian creators can build in India and earn from audiences worldwide. Among surveyed creators, 92% say Roblox helps their games reach international users. On average, overseas users account for 52% of daily active users on their games and 55% of their revenue, with the United States, United Kingdom and Japan identified as the leading export markets. The opportunity extends beyond serving Indian demand to exporting Indian creativity
● Small World Games shows that an Indian studio can achieve global scale. Founded by Zankhit Chawda, the self-funded Bengaluru studio grew from a spare bedroom into a business employing around 20 people. Its titles include Death Ball, with more than 1.6 billion visits, and Racket Rivals, with more than 560 million visits. Most of its players are overseas, demonstrating how Roblox can help Indian teams build original games for worldwide audiences while developing talent at home
● Meta Fashion demonstrates that the opportunity goes beyond making games. New Delhi entrepreneur Arjun Goel discovered Roblox during the COVID-19 lockdown and taught himself 3D design despite coming from a theatrical rather than coding background. His digital fashion business has sold more than 2.5 million items, built a community of over 25,000 members, and grown to five full-time employees plus freelance artists—showcasing opportunities in virtual fashion, design and creative entrepreneurship
● Roblox experience can become a springboard to wider creative careers. Some 91% of surveyed Indian creators say their Roblox-related work helped them secure external job offers, freelance projects or business opportunities. The report profiles 19-year-old Hriday Agrawal, who began creating while at school and now combines international freelance work with an Integrated Design and Media degree at New York University. His work on games with more than 1.5 billion combined visits illustrates how platform experience can translate into a portfolio, client relationships and transferable skills.
● Users see value in Roblox through entertainment, learning and connection. Among surveyed Indian users, 88% access Roblox through mobile phones, 92% enjoy learning at their own pace using free tutorials and community resources, and 93% enjoy spending time with friends and other community members on the platform. Meanwhile, 94% say Roblox helps them unwind. These findings point to multiple reasons for people to discover and return to Roblox, beyond any single game
● Creator success is beginning to generate a wider economic contribution in India. Access Partnership estimates that Roblox creator activity contributed ₹123.9 crore to India’s GDP cumulatively between 2020 and 2025 and supported approximately 510 full-time-equivalent jobs across the economy in 2025. Alongside the creator case studies, these estimates illustrate the potential for a growing platform ecosystem to support local businesses, creative work and economic activity.
