Successful Voter Registration Session Organised for New Students at Gian Jyoti

Mohali, Sept.01, 2026:-A one-day awareness session on voter registration was organised at Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology, Mohali, for newly admitted students aged 18 years and above. The session was conducted by a team from the District Election Office-cum-Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar, under the leadership of Gurbakshish Singh, District Nodal Officer, SVEEP.

During the session, students were provided detailed information about the voter registration process, eligibility criteria and the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls. They were also motivated to actively participate in the democratic process and understand the importance of registering themselves as voters. The initiative received an encouraging response, with more than 100 eligible students registering themselves as voters during the session. In addition, Campus Election Ambassadors were appointed to promote voter awareness across the campus and encourage other eligible students to complete their voter registration.

Sharing his views on the occasion, Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti, said that young voters play an important role in strengthening democracy. He expressed happiness that more than 100 students had come forward to take the important step of registering themselves as voters. He expressed hope that this initiative would encourage more young people to understand their electoral rights and fulfil their responsibilities as responsible citizens.
