Jammu, August 13, 2026:-Livasa Hospital, Mohali, is advancing the adoption of minimally invasive and robotic cardiac surgery across North India. It enables patients with complex heart conditions to access advanced specialist cardiac care, significantly improving outcomes for patients with complex heart valve disease, allowing carefully selected patients to benefit from reduced surgical trauma, faster recovery, and earlier return to normal life.
Speaking during a press conference at Jammu on Thursday, Dr. Ishant Singla, senior consultant-CTVS, robotic & minimally invasive cardiac surgeon, Livasa Hospital, Mohali talked about evaluation and management of Jammu resident , Monica Sharma (57), who was presented at Livasa with progressive breathlessness and was diagnosed with advanced rheumatic mitral valve disease requiring specialist cardiac surgical assessment.
Following a comprehensive cardiac evaluation, mitral valve replacement (MVR) was advised after detailed discussions with the patient and her family, he said.
She was discharged in a hemodynamically stable condition, with further cardiac surgical management and follow-up planned.
Dr. Singla emphasised that rheumatic mitral valve disease remains a significant cause of heart failure symptoms in many patients and often progresses gradually before becoming clinically severe.
Dr. Singla said that minimally invasive cardiac surgery is not merely about smaller incisions as it is about carefully selecting the right patient and delivering precision surgery supported by advanced technology and comprehensive perioperative care.
He also highlighted that modern cardiac surgery is increasingly moving toward techniques that minimise surgical trauma while maintaining the highest standards of safety and clinical effectiveness.
He said that minimally invasive valve surgery, when suitable for the patient, may offer advantages such as smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, lower postoperative discomfort, earlier mobilisation, shorter hospital stays in selected cases, and faster functional recovery.
Dr. Abhishek Garg, Facility Director- Livasa Hospital, Mohali, said that Livasa Hospital continues to strengthen its capabilities in advanced cardiac care through cutting-edge technology, experienced clinical teams, and patient-centric care pathways. Our emphasis is on delivering evidence-based treatment with a strong focus on safety, outcomes, and recovery.
