Aam Aadmi Party Chandigarh Holds March to Raj Bhavan Against BJP's Alleged Table Agenda Scam

Chandigarh, August 06, 2026:-The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Chandigarh, under the leadership of State President Vijaypal Singh, today organized a march from the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 17 to the Governor's House (Raj Bhavan). The march was held in protest against the BJP over allegations that 16 table agenda proposals, including those worth ₹227 crore, were passed without adequate discussion, transparency, or adherence to democratic procedures.

During the march, AAP leaders and workers raised slogans against the BJP, alleging that decisions involving crores of rupees collected from taxpayers were being taken in violation of established rules. They stated that the dignity of democratic institutions and the transparent functioning of the Municipal Corporation were being undermined.

As the protesters proceeded towards Raj Bhavan, a heavy police force was deployed and barricades were erected to stop the march. Water cannons were also used to disperse the crowd. Subsequently, some AAP councillors were taken to the Deputy Commissioner's office. Later, party leaders were again prevented from moving ahead at the Governor's House roundabout.

In the absence of the Governor, an AAP delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor's representative, demanding an impartial and independent inquiry into the alleged passage of all 16 proposals, including the ₹227 crore table agenda, without adequate discussion. The party also sought strict action against the officials and public representatives found responsible.

Those present during the protest included State President Vijaypal Singh, Core Committee Chairman Prem Garg, General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, Chief Spokesperson Yogesh Dhingra, Senior Vice President and Councillor Hardeep Singh Buterla, former Mayor Kuldeep Kumar, Councillors Anju Katyal and Jaswinder Kaur, Jasvir Singh Laddi, P.P. Ghai, Observer Vineet Verma, State Media In-charge Vikrant A. Tanwar, Praveen, Vishal, Sakshi Bansal, Ravi Mani, Bajrang Garg, Devak Soni, Sandeep Dahiya, Jagpal Jagga, Ajit Singh, Rohit Birla, Ravi Singh, Vijay, Lalit Mohan, Mamta Ram Darbar, Dimple, Gurdev, Om Prakash Tiwari, Sunil, Shadab Rathi, party spokesperson Ajit, Lalit, Women's Wing Senior Vice President Gurpreet Kaur, Shobha, Jyoti, Jyoti Manchanda, Geeta Devi, Rinki Bahudhari, along with a large number of party office-bearers and workers.

Party leaders said that decisions involving public funds worth hundreds of crores cannot be taken without adequate discussion and transparency. AAP warned that if prompt action is not taken in the matter, the party will intensify its agitation with the support of the people of Chandigarh, take the details of the entire issue to every household, and launch a larger public movement if necessary.
