AAP Stages Massive Protest at BJP's Kamalam Office Against Insult to Punjabis: Demands Immediate Removal of Chandigarh BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra

By 121 News
Chandigarh, June 19, 2026:-The alleged derogatory and insulting remarks made by Chandigarh BJP President Jatinder Pal Malhotra against Punjabis sparked widespread outrage today, prompting the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Chandigarh, to organize a massive protest outside the BJP headquarters, "Kamalam," in Sector 33. Led by AAP Chandigarh President Vijaypal Singh, hundreds of party leaders and workers gathered to send a strong message that any insult to the Punjabi community would not be tolerated.

The protesters raised slogans against the BJP and burnt an effigy of Jatinder Pal Malhotra, calling him a symbol of the insult directed at Punjabis. AAP workers alleged that the arrogance of BJP leaders has reached a point where they are attempting to undermine the sacrifices and historic contributions made by Punjabis to the nation. Despite police intervention and restrictions, the protesters continued their demonstration with determination and raised slogans against the BJP.

Senior AAP leaders strongly criticized the BJP and alleged that this was not merely an individual statement but reflected a broader anti-Punjabi mindset within the party. They stated that punjabis have fed the nation, contributed immensely to India's freedom struggle, and stood fearlessly at the country's borders to defend its sovereignty. Such remarks are deeply offensive to the dignity and self-respect of the Punjabi community.

AAP leaders further alleged that by failing to take action against Malhotra, the BJP leadership was sending the wrong message to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh. They asserted that the sentiments of Punjabis cannot be ignored and that any attempt to disrespect their contribution to the nation would be met with strong democratic resistance.

AAP Chandigarh President Vijaypal Singh said that Jatinder Pal Malhotra's statement is not merely a political mistake; it is a direct attack on the self-respect and dignity of Punjabis. If the BJP has no regard for the sentiments of Punjabis, it has no moral right to seek their support. The detention of our workers today only reflects the BJP's politics of suppression, but we are not afraid. The BJP leadership must take responsibility and address the concerns raised by the Punjabi community.

During the protest, several leaders and workers were detained and taken to Sector 34 Police Station. However, AAP leaders stated that such actions would not deter them from raising their voice against what they described as an insult to Punjabis.

Among those present at the protest were AAP General Secretary Omkar Singh Aulakh, Councillor Yogesh Dhingra, former Mayor Kuldeep Kumar Dhalor, Anju Katyal, Leader of Opposition Hardeep Singh Buterla, Jagpal Jagga, Lalit Mohan, Deshraj Sanawar, Jasbir Singh Laddi, State Media Incharge Vikrant A.
