Chandigarh, June 07, 2026:-A captivating musical programme titled “Swar Sarita” was organized under the joint aegis of Pracheen Kala Kendra and Brihaspati Kala Kendra at the M.L. Koser Auditorium, PKK complex, Sector 35, Chandigarh. The program was a humble tribute to Legendary  vaggeyakara, late Acharya Brihaspati Ji. The evening featured an enchanting recital of Hindustani classical vocal music by young and talented vocalist Ms. Sharmishtha Chhetri (Chakrabarty).  Prof. Subhra Vardhan was also present on the occasion.

The programme commenced with Raag Yaman, in which Ms. Chhetri presented three compositions of the modern vaggeyakara, the late Acharya Brihaspati Ji. The first composition, rendered in Vilambit Ektaal, was “Kahe Alasane Ho Laal, Rain To Nahin Beeti Jaat, Adheer Bhaye Kahe Bin Baat.” Her presentation reflected the rich tradition of the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, incorporating elaborate alaap, bol-baant, and intricate taans.

She then presented another composition composed by Acharya Brihaspati Ji in Teentaal, “Mangal Karahu Daya Kari Devi,” followed by a Drut Ektaal composition, “Deen Bandhu Deenanath Bhaktan Bhay Haari, Shankh Chakra Gada Padma Dhaari Sukhkaari.”

Through her rendition of sargam, bol-baant, bol-taan, and gamak-laden taans, she captivated the audience and earned immense appreciation from the connoisseurs present in the auditorium.

After presenting the three compositions in Raag Yaman, Ms. Chhetri concluded her recital with the devotional bhajan of Sant Kabir, “Moko Kahan Dhoonde Re Bande, Main To Tere Paas Mein.” The musical composition of the bhajan was created by her guru, Prof. Saubhagyavardhan Brihaspati, son of the late Acharya Brihaspati Ji. The soulful rendition transformed the atmosphere into one of devotion and spiritual reflection.

The recital was accompanied on tabla by eminent tabla exponent Dr. Mahendra Prasad Sharma, on sarangi by Shri Rajesh Kumar whose sensitive accompaniment enhanced the overall musical experience.
