UT and MC Employees to Join Nationwide Strike on February 12th. Preparations Underway.

Chandigarh, Feb.02, 2026:- Employees of the UT and Municipal Corporation will participate in the nationwide strike on February 12th. Following a notice served by the Federation to the Chief Secretary of the Chandigarh Administration and other officials on January 22, 2026, rallies are being held in various offices. In preparation for the strike, gate meetings were held today at the Municipal Corporation Horticulture booth in Sector 23, the Rose Garden in Sector 16, and the electricity office in Sector 23. Addressing the gate meetings, Federation President Gopal Dutt Joshi, General Secretary Rajendra Katoch, Joint Secretary Harkesh Chand, Deputy President and General Secretary of CSC Horticulture M.M. Subramaniam, President of UT Power Man Union Amrik Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Pan Singh, Surjit Singh, Surender Singh, Virender Singh, and CSC Horticulture Department Cashier Hardeep Singh, Vice President Budhram, and others appealed to all employees to participate in the strike on February 12th. They stated that the strike is being held in support of the following demands:  immediately implementing a 20% interim relief by determining the terms and conditions of the Eighth Pay Commission; repealing the four labor codes created by replacing 29 labor laws; regularizing all temporary employees who have completed 10 years of service and implementing equal pay for equal work until regularization; bringing outsourced employees under the direct control of the departments; repealing the PFRDA Act and restoring the old pension scheme; stopping the privatization of departments; immediately filling all vacant promotional posts in all departments and regularizing contract employees in direct recruitment posts; adjusting electricity employees sent to private companies by the Chandigarh administration back into the administration's electricity department and other departments; revoking the dismissal orders of crèche workers and helpers and reinstating them; reinstating employees who were retired at 60 instead of 65 years of age; bringing parks and green belts under the control of the Horticulture Department; revoking ESMA imposed in the electricity and transport departments; withdrawing FIRs registered against employees; repealing Articles 310, 311 2 A B C of the Constitution; immediately reinstating employees retrenched by the Municipal Corporation; reducing the ESI deduction limit to at least 50,000; implementing the Central Government Health Scheme for UT employees; providing jobs to dependents of deceased employees by removing the 5% ceiling; implementing DC rates for crèche/Anganwadi workers; and immediately providing oil, soap, and uniforms to employees. Federation officials appealed to employees of all departments to participate in large numbers in the strike on February 12th and make the rally being held in Sector 17 a success.
