Azad and Sidhu Dominates at the Opening Day of the UTCA Senior Men’s Multi-Day Tournament

Chandigarh, June 12, 2025:-- Half-centuries from opener Arjun Azad (93) and wicketkeeper-batter Mayank Sidhu (88) gave Terrace Zone a solid start against Plaza Zone on Day one of the UTCA Senior Men's Multi-Day Tournament which commenced at the Baba Balak Nath Cricket Academy, Kaimbala. Opting to bat first, Terrace Zone posted a commanding total of 349 in 72.2 overs. Skipper Gurinder Singh (53) and Sanchit Sahu (52) also contributed valuable half-centuries. Among the bowlers, Gaurav Gambhir stood out for Plaza Zone with figures of 4/36. In response, Plaza Zone reached 29 without loss at stumps.

At SSCA Cricket Academy, Kandala, Rose Zone was bowled out for 222 against Sukhna Zone. Chiragvir Singh Dhindsa top-scored with a fighting 62, while Nishuk Birla impressed with the ball, picking up 3/25. In reply, Sukhna Zone openers unbeaten Tushar Joshi (53) and Yuvraj Rai (43) guided their side to 100 without loss at close of play.

Meanwhile, at the third venue GMSSS-26, Leisure Zone posted 289 against Rock Zone. Bhagmender Lather (89) and skipper Ankit Kaushik (52) were the key contributors with the bat. For Rock Zone, Mohit Soni (4/47) clinched four while Vishu Kashyap (3/20) and Rahul Singh (3/52) picked up three wickets each. In response, Rock Zone ended the day at 39/2.
