Chandigarh, Nov.27, 2024:--A collective bowling efforts helped Assam to defend a meagre target of 151 as UT boys were defeated by 11 runs at the ongoing league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy being played at Vizag on Wednesday. This is Chandigarh's first defeat in three matches.
Earlier, Chandigarh won the toss and decided to field first. Despite Assam's initial setbacks 34/9, top scorer Sahil Jain (51) and wicketkeeper batter S Chandigaonkar (42) rescued the team till 140/4. Later, Sandeep Sharma (4/22) and Jagjit Sandhu (2/22) foiled the opponent's plans as the duo dismissed six batters in a span of ten runs in just three overs with 150 all out . Raj Angad Bawa (3/28) aptly supported them at the bowling end.
Chandigarh also kicked off with a dismal start when top order - Arjun Azad (0), Manan Vohra (18) and Shivam Bhambri (5) failed to deliver. Though top scorer Raj Angad Bawa (37) recovered the loss but the opposition kept taking wickets in regular intervals and managed to restrict Chandigarh to 139. Gaurav Puri and Amrit Lubana also added 18 runs each..
Chandigarh's fourth match is against Chhattisgarh on November 29.
Karnataka thrashed Chandigarh by ten wickets in Under 15 Girls ODI
Chandigarh, UT girls faced their biggest defeat in the Women's ODI tournament being played in Dehradun when Karnataka convingly won by ten wickets. Batting first, Chandigarh collapsed at mere 100 runs with Dakshita (32) as the top scorer. In reply, the opening pair of Lyank Shetty (47) and Rohini (42) of Karnataka achieved the target in the 18th over.
