Skipper Paras Powered UT Boys to Register 66-Run Win over Chhattisgarh

Chandigarh, Sept.05, 2023:- The all-round performance led by skipper Paras helped UT boys to register a 66-run win over Chattisgarh in the first match of the Under 19  five-match series which started at DAV School, Sector 8 on Tuesday. Chandigarh while batting first was magnificently supported by a fine knock of  Paras ( 80 off 92 balls) and was powered by three sixes and seven boundaries. Openers - Devang Kaushik (47) and Jashn (26) also laid a strong foundation for the team while Ishan Gaba (54) scored a half century to pose 261/8 runs in the stipulated fifty overs. Varun Singh (2/30) and Vikalp Tiwari (2/37) shared two wickets each from opposition. In reply, visitors struggled from the beginning with a shaky start as half of the team went to the pavilion with 70 on the board. Team failed to recover and were restricted to 195/8 runs. Paras (2/13) and Nishank Birla (2/28) took two wickets each. The second match of the series will be played on  September 7.

Monika Pandey's half-century steered  Rock Zone to win

Leisure Zone registers 29-run win over Plaza Zone

Chandigarh: A brilliant half-century from Monika Pandey helped  Rock Zone to script a 21-run victory over Rose Zone in the first league match of the UTCA Combined Women's T20 Tournament being kicked off at Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36 on Tuesday. Batting first, Rock Zone gave a solid start with openers Monika Pandey (61) and Nikita Nain (21). Both stitched a partnership of 75 runs. Thereafter,  both the wickets fell in the same over and lower order batters failed to accelerate the pace of runs and were restricted to 105/8 runs in the stipulated twenty overs. Kashvee Gautam (3/15) was the pick of the bowlers from opposition. In reply Rose Zone, struggling at 46/5 was later bundled out for 84 runs. Kashvee  and Yashika contributed 18 runs each.

In another match of the day, Leisure Zone registered a 29-run win over Plaza Zone. Leisure Zone scored 169/2 with the help of Aaradhna Bisht (57). Parushi Prabhakar added 38 runs while Twinkle Pathak contributed 29 runs. In reply, Plaza Zone could score only 140/6 runs wherein  Palak Rana (55) was the top scorer.
