Chandigarh, Sept. 17, 2021:- The IQAC of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh, in collaboration with IPLOEA, organized a National Webinar on "WHY, WHAT, AND HOW OF PATENTS" on September 16, 2021. The resource person for the event was Latika Khanduja, founder of IPLOEA, expert IPR and Patent firm. The aim of this webinar was to enlighten the students about the significance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and inform them about its process and different forms. Maninder Kaur, the Moderator of the webinar, gave an introduction about the College. Dr Pooja Malhotra, Chief Coordinator of IQAC, delivered the welcome address.
Latika Khanduja discussed the meaning and uses of patents through various examples. She talked about the need to register for patents, timeliness, the meaning of patent commercialization, and what all cannot be patented in India. She further explained how to identify infringing products and how to distinguish between technology licensing and infringement.
The webinar was attended by more than 100 participants that included faculty and students. Dr Sonia Sharma, Coordinator of IQAC, delivered the vote of thanks.
The Principal, Dr Jatinder Kaur, applauded the efforts of the IQAC Cell in organizing this webinar and in enlightening the students about this vital topic.
