Chandigarh Sept. 16, 2021:- Celebrating 15 glorious years of NCC Naval Wing at Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh, the NCC Naval Wing organised 'Odyssey' here today. Capt. Vijay Chikara, Commanding Officer, 1 CHD NCC Naval and Dr. Nisha Bhargava, Principal, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. Referring to MCM as one of the finest colleges, Capt. Chikara complemented the college for grooming women achievers in diverse fields including NCC. Besides apprising the audience of the aims and objectives of NCC, Capt. Chikara also shed light on the initiatives being undertaken by 1 CHD NCC Naval directed at promoting holistic development of the NCC Naval cadets.
Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Nisha Bhargava lauded the NCC Naval Wing of MCM for its praiseworthy accomplishments, and for instilling discipline and promoting spirit of unity among young cadets who are the custodians of the future. With a sense of pride, Dr. Bhargava added that going beyond the call of duty, the NCC cadets at MCM did exemplary work during the troubled COVID times and continue to do so especially in villages under the aegis of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan of Government of India.
The programme began with a presentation on the laudable accomplishments of MCM's NCC Naval cadets. Further, a video showcasing the efforts of NCC Naval cadets during COVID under the aegis of Fit India Campaign was also shown during the event.
Another highlight of the event was 'Cadet Talk' wherein former cadets of 1 CHD NCC Naval shared their rich experiences and motivational thoughts with their juniors, providing insights into the lives of NCC cadets and how NCC transforms them into better and stronger human beings.
Songs and dance performances added to the entertainment quotient of the event. The event successfully culminated with a prize distribution ceremony wherein various cadet achievers were awarded for their outstanding contribution.
