Desh Bhagat University Organizes Tree Plantation in the Memory of S. Lal Singh

Chandigarh June 21, 2021:-To Mark, the thirty-second anniversary of Freedom fighter S. Lal Singh, path Sri Sukhmani sahib was organized in the Desh Bhagat University on Monday. All students and staff from different faculties planted trees in the loving memory of Sardar Lal Singh. Chancellor of the university Dr. Zora Singh said that we should all walk on the path of patriotism, and tries to ensure that every action we take, big or small, has better results for our society and country.

On this occasion, the spokesperson of the university said that Desh Bhagat University was Established in the Memory of S. Lal Singh Ji, revered father of Dr. Zora Singh, Chancellor. He was an associate of Neeta Ji Subhash Chander Boss and was given the status of 'Freedom Fighter' by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, in May 1970. He was awarded "Tamra Patra" on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of India's Independence on 15th August 1972 by the then Prime Minister of India, Late Indira Gandhi, in recognition of his contribution to freedom struggle of India. 

Talking about his father Dr. Zora Singh said that he always insisted on good education. He used to say that only good education can create a good society, the society gets true freedom only when there is freedom of thought. Good education frees our minds. For this purpose, we built this university and named it Desh Bhagat University. We are committed to making their dream come true.

This was followed by tree plantation by Dr. Zora Singh, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tajinder Kaur, S. Hardev Singh, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shalni Gupta, Advisor to Chancellor Dr. Virinder Singh Registrar Dr. Kulbhushan to keep his memory alive. The event was attended by the Directors of all Schools faculty Members and Students.
