Chandigarh March 27, 2021:- E-Poster Competition on World Vaccination Day was organized in Desh Bhagat University by Placebo Club, Faculty of Pharmacy, DBU. The Theme of the event was "Vaccination Brings us closer". The objective of the competition was to form students adaptive to a web platform, to make a platform for participants to showcase creativity during a pandemic situation, to make people aware of COVID-19 related scientific information, and to highlight the benefit of vaccination.
The competition was inaugurated digitally by Chancellor of DBU Dr. Zora Singh; he said that when we get vaccinated, we aren't just protecting ourselves, but also those around us. Some people like those who are seriously ill, are advised not to get certain vaccines – so they depend on the rest of us to get vaccinated and help reduce the spread of disease.
Welcome address was given by Prof. B.D Dhiman, Principal, School of Pharmacy, and Ms. Khushpal, Principal, S. Lal Singh Memorial College of Pharmacy, Desh Bhagat University.
Teams from various departments of Desh Bhagat University registered for this competition. There was a live presentation where participants presented posters using Google Meet Platform over the period of 3hrs.
Good deliberation happened during the live presentation, which had increased the level of awareness about vaccination on the topics of Vaccination Brings, us closer, protected together, vaccines work, Close the immunization gap, and protect your world-get vaccinated and Vaccines work for all. The presenters were well prepared, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic to answer all the questions asked by judges.
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Tejinder Kaur congratulated Staff, students, and members of Placebo Club for the successful conduct of the event. She added that Vaccination is a safe and effective way to prevent disease and save lives – now more than ever. Today there are vaccines available to guard against a minimum of 20 diseases, like diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, influenza, and measles. E-certificates were awarded to winners. At the end of the event, Dr. Puja Gulati delivered a vote of thanks to all the participants, students, and faculty.
Dr. Shalini Gupta, the Vice-Chancellor, acknowledged and appreciated the efforts put in by students of the Faculty of Pharmacy. She appreciated the efforts of the Placebo club and conveyed best wishes to stay fit.
