Administrator Launches the Mobile Based Application (App) for Monitoring of Wildlife Rescue

Chandigarh Oct. 27, 2020:- V.P.Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab & the Administrator, UT Chandigarh has launched the Mobile Based Application (App) for monitoring of wildlife rescue, reporting and release of the wildlife through online system, in Punjab Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh. This Mobile App works on all Android supporting smart phones.

The Governor of Punjab & the Administrator, UT Chandigarh informed that the Mobile-Based Application (App) is for the rescue of wildlife including snakes etc entering human habitation, reporting and its further release in the Wildlife Sanctuary, Chandigarh. Real-time Wildlife Rescue App made with an objective to rehabilitate wildlife in distress in city areas, parks, reserved or protected forests in urban and rural settlements. Through this App, timely dissemination of information to the concerned authorities is possible for injured and distress wild animals in the city.

Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh appreciated the initiative of the department for using the technology for the benefit of both wildlife as well as the citizens.  Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Forest & Wildlife), UT Chandigarh informed that with the help of this App, the location of the incident is also directly communicated, thereby making it easier and faster for the department to react to such call.

Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden, UT Chandigarh further informed that it is an optimum use of technology and step towards e-Governance in wildlife rescue where a user need not to call on the wildlife hotline number (0172-2700217) of the department but the same can be resolved in time bound manner and this has simplified the office process to a great extent. The Department has taken this step to enhance the efficiency of office by taking advantage of the available technology. The link of the APP is also available on the department's website i.e. chandigarhforest.gov.in. In this App, all orders/guidelines/rules related to wildlife rescue have been uploaded by the department for general information of the public. Through this App, the public can click pictures of the wildlife in distress and can send the same to the concerned rescue squad directly for taking immediate action.

Among other prominent persons attending this event were  Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Forests & Wildlife), Debendra Dalai, Chief Conservator of Forests & Chief Wildlife Warden and Dr. Abdul Qayum, Deputy Conservator of Forests, UT Chandigarh and other senior officers of the Administration.
