Chandigarh 26th September:- Member of Parliament Smt. Kirron Kher today interacted with the residents of Bapu Dham Colony under Sansad Aapke Dwar initiative started by her. It is for the second time in a month that such program was organized by MP in Chandigarh in which thousands of residents participated. Earlier on 11th Sep she interacted with residents of Dhanas rehabilitation colony. On this occasion Kirron Kher thanked residents of Bapu Dham Colony for their trust in her. The residents living in tenement houses demanded ownership rights. They said that they are not able to get the status of permanent resident because they have not given ownership rights. After discussing with Dr. Tapsaya Raghav, Kirron Kher said that a policy has already been made in this regard and it has been sent to UT Administrator and MHA for their approval. She also told the officers of administration that the residents should be given the facility of depositing licence fee of their flats at E-Sampark Centres. Residents also said that vacant tenement houses should also be allotted.
Residents of Bapu Dham Colony said that after the Jhuggis were removed from the colony, the ares has been lying vacant and now it has taken shape of jungle which create problems from them. She said that she will construct two parks from MPLADs so that residents do not face any problems. After the residents complained of parking problems in the area she said that she is ready to get the underground parking constructed provided the residents use them. She also ask the officers to work in this regard. The residents also complained of electricity problems in their area and said that street lights and lights in parks do not work. She asked that the Superintending Engineer of Electricity Department to get the problems rectified. He said that he will also hold camp in the colony regarding the problems of electricity. Te residents complained of shortage of water supply in the colony and also said that they are not getting safe drinking water. Kirron Kher said that shortage of water supply will come to an end very soon. After people complained of increasing crime in their area she asked the chowki in charge to increase the patrolling in the colony.
