Employees and Workers of Chandigarh Celebrates May Day

Chandigarh 01st May:- The Federation of U.T. Employees and Workers Chandigarh, Coordination Committee of Govt. and M.C. Employees & Workers Chandigarh, CITU, Employee forum, Punjab Board and Corporation Maha Sangh, today celebrate May Day Function here Near Electricity Office, Sector 18-A, Chandigarh. The May Day function was celebrated as pledge day by these organizations. The employees of Electricity, Water Supply, Horticulture, Road, Maintenance, Housing Board, Transport, Heath, CITCO, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh, Punjab State Tube well Corporation, Punjab State   Small Scale Industries, LIC, Aganwari, Education Department & Indian Council Child Welfare besides affiliates of CITU working in various industries and other organizations have participate in the May Day Function in a massive way. Large number of female employee & workers also participated in the function. The function was presided by Raghbir Chand, Manmohan Singh, Brij Lal, Om Parkash, and Dinesh Prashad.

The function addressed by Raghbir Chand Convener, Rajinder Katoch Co-convener (Coordination Committee), Gopal Dutt Joshi General Secretary (Federation), Bhim Sen, Harkesh Chand,   (M.C. Horticulture), P. Kamraj (M.C. Road), Ram Sarup, & Dhyan Singh (U.T. Powermen), Shamsher Singh, Amrik Singh (Water Supply), Prem Pal (BDPO), Bihari Lal, Rekha Sharma (ICCW), Trilochan Singh (U.T. Horticulture), Ganesh and Bisram (U.T. Road), Jai Pal (Maintenance), Nasib Singh (NAC Manimajra), Shinder Pal, (Housing Board), Kamaljeet Singh (BSNL), N.Marwadhi (PSIEC), M.S. Gorsi, Nagindar Kumar  (CITU),  Kaminder Walia (PCMSRU) beside other leaders of various trade unions. Comrade Chander Shekhar Vice President (CITU Punjab) was Main Speaker of the May Day Function. 

The speakers while tributing to martyr of May Day demanded, Concrete action to be taken for containing price-rise and aggravating unemployment situation, for strict implementation of labor laws, halting mass scale unlawful contractoristion, ensuring minimum wages for all of not less than Rs.18000 per month and universal social security benefits and pension for all including the unorganized sector workers etc. the demands also include compulsory registration of Trade Unions within 45 days. The Speakers also denounced the retrograde move of the Govt. in hiking and allowing FDI in Deface sector, insurance, Railways and other sectors and also its aggressive move for disinvestment in PSUs including financial sector which will be detrimental to the interests of the national economy and pledge that the problem faced by the employees and workers are the creation new economic policy of Govt. and united strong actions is only the solution to fight against these policies.
