Labour Deptt Issues Cost of Living Index Numbers for Industrial Workers

Chandigarh 02^nd December:-  The half yearly Cost of Living Index Numbers of Chandigarh Center (Base 2001 = 100) for industrial workers, issued by Labour Department, U.T Chandigarh, for the months of April, 2015 to September, 2015 are 1315.00, 1336.04, 1330.78, 1346.56, 1351.82 and 1351.82 respectively.  Thus the average (calculated for six months) cost of living index numbers as on 30.9.2015 is 1339. The previous average cost of living index numbers was 1302 points for half year ending 31^st March, 2015. Therefore, increase in average cost of living index number is 37 points. The per point neutralization in minimum rates of wages for monthly rated employees under the Minimum Wages Act is Rs. 7/- per point.  Thus minimum rates of wages for each category of employees have been increased by Rs. 259/- p.m. on the increase of 37 points. Similarly, daily rated employees will get increase of Rs. 14.06/- @ 0.38 per point on the increase of 37 points.  The following are the minimum rates of wages payable for monthly and daily rated employees for the period starting from October 01^st, 2015 to March 31^st, 2016 (both days inclusive).
