Chandigarh 15th September:-- To break a record of 72 Hours live on air and enter its name in the LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS 107.8 FM Desh Bhagat Community Radio, a community radio station in association with the UT Administration, State AIDS Control Society and Chandigarh Rotaract Club undertake a 100-hour live on-air marathon against drugs.
Speaking on the issue at the launch of the 100-hour Marathon, UT DPRO M.M. Sabharwal complimented the efforts of the Desh Bhagat radio and said the administration always looks to partnering such events with such noble cause. Wishing the Desh Bhagat team success in its endeavour to create a Limca Book of Records entry. M.M. Sabharwal said drugs were eating into our society and the Desh Bhagat radio had picked up the crusade at a very opportune time.
Desh Bhagat group chairman Dr Zora Singh said let's kill drugs before drugs kill our youth, society and nation. He also said that drugs had national level ramifications and were not restricted to the tricity alone. He further said that to make general public more aware about the drugs 3 nukkad nataks in slum colonies and Biggest flash mobs to be organized at different places of the city.
Mrs Tajinder Kaur, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University and anchor of radio show "Shakti: The Power of A Woman", highlighted the role of a woman and the mother in taking her family on the right path of a drug-free life.
Also associated with the campaign, Neil Roberts, who has been a drug user for 10 years and is presently helping addicts kick the habit, said addiction to drugs was taking its toll on the youth of the country. He lauded the Desh Bhagat radio's initiative against drugs, by saying that such creative and innovative ideas were needed to bring those addicted to drugs out of their habit
