SLSA organize a Legal Awareness Classes-cum-Seminar against Eve-Teasing

Chandigarh 24^th July:-- The State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh (SLSA) organized a Legal Awareness Classes-cum-Seminar against Eve-Teasing here today.The speakers highlighted common causes of eve teasing like lack of legal knowledge, shyness, social dominance, ignorance, lack of education and exposure, exploitation of girls.

Interns   Priyanka Parmar, Pranav Gupta, Jaskiran Deep Kaur and Isha, of SLSA stated that the purpose of Seminar was to make aware the gathering about the rights of girls as well as boys for ensuring that children get benefits provided by the Rights for free and compulsory education. They appealed for bringing child from Exploitation to Legal Education and Awareness. They stressed that Eve Teasing can be tackled on following mantras — prevention, protection and participation — of children, in order to tackle the menace.  

Baljinder Singh-Principal of School, Rakesh Dhaiya-Program Officer of NSS Chandigarh Unit and various thanked the SLSA for imparting the knowledge about the legal rights and Eve-Teasing control laws and emphasized the need of holding more such Seminars at regular intervals.

Rajeshwar Singh, Law Officer of SLSA informed the audience about the aims and functions of SLSA. Highlighted the various legal rights of children, women and provisions of the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. The questions and problems of students were discussed and answered on the spot by the Interns Priyanka Parmar, Pranav Gupta, Jaskiran Deep Kaur and Isha .
