Chandigarh 25th July:--- Welcoming the amendments in the industrial policy, thereby relaxing the conditions for hotels, hospitals, educational institutions and multimedia centers, R S Sachdeva, Co-Chiarman, Punjab Committee, PHD Chamber said, "The Punjab Cabinet's nod to relax conditions would bring in new investments in Punjab and step up setting up of new hospitals, hotels, educational institutes and multimedia centres in the industrial focal points of the state."

Terming the amendments far sighted, Sachdeva said, reducing the minimum areas required for setting up of such units from 5000 sqmts to 1000sqmts, besides reducing the width of approach road from 80 feet to 40 feet and plot's front area from 200 feet to 60 feet would encourage more entrepreneurs to invest here.

Sachdeva welcomed the doing away of the provision of professional management tie ups or franchise for hospital or hotel with any national/ international chain as well.

This amendment will go a long way in promoting investments in the region and will create huge employment opportunities added Sachdeva. "With such provisions for the service centric industry, we see development on the lines of Gurgaon in the next ten years", said Sachdeva. This move shall help industry in Punjab to grow and expand.

With international connectivity in place, coupled with the recent incentives in the new industrial policy announced recently and these amendments, Punjab can definitely have an edge over its neighbouring counterparts, affirmed Dalip Sharma, Regional Director PHD Chamber.
