KK Sharma inaugurates Plantation Drive in Chd: Paudh Mela shall continue from 19th to 21st July

Chandigarh 19^th July:-- On the Launch  of Van Mahotsav-2013, a 'Paudh Mela'  was   inaugurated by K.K.Sharma, IAS, Advisor to the Administrator on 19^th July, 2013 at Parking Place of Lake Sports Complex.. The Paudh Mela shall continue from 19^th to 21^st  July, 2013  in front of Lake Sports Complex.  In Paudh Mela. Three Stalls of Forest Department, Municipal Corporation & Horticulture wing of Engineering Department are stationed where Saplings are being distributed free of cost or at subsidized rate depending on species. On this occasion, K.K.Sharma distributed few saplings to people present there.

After inauguration of 'Paudh Mela', the Chief Guest went to Sukhna Choe Reserved Forest area near Daria Forest Nursery, Chandigarh, where  he launched the   'Plantation Drive'2013  at the site and planted 'Jamun' sapling. 

On this occasion, Sh.Anil Kumar, Home Secretary, Sh.D.K.Tiwari, Secretary Environment & Forests, Mrs. Prerna Puri, Secretary I.T., Shri Santosh Kumar, Conservator of Forests, Shri Kuldeep, DCF and other Senior Officers of the Administration planted the saplings. It was attended by more than 200 school students and NSS Cadets and representatives from NGOs and Resident Welfare Associations. They all planted saplings which were mostly of fruit bearing species like Aam, Jamun, Gular etc.

On this occasion speaking to the media, K.K.Sharma requested all citizens of Chandigarh to take part in this Vanmahotsav-2013 with all enthusiasm  and interest so as to make Chandigarh the clean & green city.
