Hip Replacement Cases on the Rise Due to Alchohal and Drug:Dr Jatinder Singla

Chandigarh 29^th July:- At the age of 25, any young boy would think of building a career, marriage or a beautiful life that lies ahead. However, Devinder Singh from Chamba, who is just married, has gone through a Total Hip Replacement surgery. Suffering from AVN (Avascular Necrosis), which is largely caused due to drug or alcohol addiction, surgery was the only option for him. Nowadays, youngsters are progressively suffering from this disease and need hip replacement at a very young age. This was informed Dr Jatinder Singla, Joint Replacement Surgeon, Mayo Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali.

Dr Jatinder Singla said that this is first time in tricity that after a total hip replacement a patient could even squat due to MDM DUAL MOBILITY Tri Polar THR. Normally after THR (Total Hip Replacement) we do not allow patient to sit in squatting position because of high risk of joint dislocation in this position of extreme flexion at hip. But in Indian scenario people have life style which needs squatting very frequently for agriculture work, for milking the cows. He added that indian style toilets etc. After conventional THR all these activities were not allowed. A lot of people from villages suffering from hip arthritis were not ready to accept this restriction after THR and were continuing to bear pain. But now we can offer relief to everyone.

Dr Jatinder Singla shared that earlier it was Hip Arthritis that was the major reason behind AVN and a patient had no control over it. However, now AVN is being caused by addiction and is not a result of one's destiny! The number of patients that we are operating here are big-time addicted of steroids,
which they use for building up their bodies or those who have high alcohol intake from a very early age. Such patients and are not even ready to quit post the surgery. We are operating 5-10 youngsters aged between 20 to 30 years every month. It's a huge number in terms of spread of the disease and it's quite alarming..

Drug addicts are increasingly lining up inside hospitals for hip replacement surgeries, necessitated by the ill-effects. Joint pains are common in people aged over 50 years, but these youngsters come crippled because of the easy availability of drugs. They consume all types of drugs and it directly affects their hip-joints, which refuse to work after a few years.

IIMC Innovation Park brings ‘StartUp Weekend’ to Eastern India

In spite of the heavy monsoon downpour, the IIMC campus was buzzing with activities and excitement. Organized for the first time in Eastern India, the Startup Weekend was hosted by IIM Calcutta Innovation Park (IIMCIP) to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.  IIMCIP brought in some of the key stakeholders in the startup ecosystem in the likes of TiE, Calcutta Angels, Nasscom, CII and Innokul.

Subhrangshu Sanyal, CEO, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park who was also part of the jury shared that all ideas presented addressed a critical social problem or a market gap. We were impressed by the tremendous enthusiasm exhibited by the teams and their achievements in just 54 hours.

Sukhbir Singh & Harsimrat Badal Shares Grief of Families Bereaved in Kullu Tragedy

Chandigarh 26^th July:-  The Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal and Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal shared the grief of bereaved families who lost their loved ones in Kullu bus tragedy. They visited the villages of Lelewala, Jaga Ram Tirath and Mehraj where they condoled the irreparable losses and asserted that Punjab government stood by them in their moment of grief. On Thursday the bus carrying around 60 people from Bathinda, Mansa and Barnalawas bound for Manikaran Sahib met with an in Kullu's Bhunter area wherein 21 people have been saved.

Talking to the media persons the Dy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal termed the incidence very unfortunate and added that the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has declared Rs 1 lacs compensation for the next of kin of deceased. He added that the government was treating injured free of cost. Praying to the Almighty for early revival of those missing the deputy CM said that government was also investigating into the permit of the overloaded bus. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh government, the Punjab government was monitoring the rescue operation. He said that as per the reports received from high level state officer, deputed to coordinate in the rescue work, 21 people have been relieved after being treated at Kullu hospital and four injured are admitted at PGI Chandigarh. He added that of the 37 missing people, bodies of nine have been recovered which includes two people each of village Lelewala and Mehraj, three from Jaga Ram Titrath and from different villages of Barnala and Mansa  district. He added that inspection posts and control rooms have been set up at Larji Dam and Pandoh Dam to locate the bodies of missing people. He added that anyone can contact the respective control rooms to find information of ones missing relative.

Union Minister for Food Processing Industry Mrs Harsimrat Kaur Badal said that the tragedy has left families with irreparable losses. She prayed for the departed souls and for giving their families strength to bear the loss. She said that the Punjab government was making efforts to locate the missing people and all the teams were working round the clock for this. She added that the injured were being provided free treatment.

 

Hallmark Public School organize Fifth Blood Donation Camp

Chandigarh 26^th July:-  Hallmark Public School Panchkula organized a fifth annual blood donation camp in its school. The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr Manish Rai, Rotary Blood Bank Chandigarh. Sunil Talwar, Deputy Mayor of Panchkula was also seen encouraging the children. The additional deputy commissioner Mrs Hema Sharma was the chief guest, on this occasion. On this occassion 246 people registered and 177 donated blood.

 The chief guest, additional deputy commissioner Mrs Hema Sharma while admiring Hallmark's effort said that everybody should try to spread awareness about the blood donation in the country, but these efforts can only be successful when we come forward to donate blood on our own and inspire our friends and relatives for the same.

Director of hallmark Public School Jivtesh Garg said that 59 percent of blood donation is done voluntarily; we are making every possible effort to make our children the future blood donors. We have been making the people to donate 170 units of blood every year for last five years. He added that Blood donation is life saving. The blood donated by us save a number of lives. We realize this when one of our dear ones fights with the death needs blood. Then we wake up and struggle to make arrangements of the blood.

Mrs Kavita Wadhwa, Principal of Hallmark public school said that the children of Hallmark presented a skit in the assembly, made posters and inspired their families and friends about blood donation. We are determined to make the children of Hallmark the blood donors of the future so that nobody loses his or her life because of the lack of blood.

The Bindass NAACH Troupe Enthrall Fans With Their Performance at Elante Mall

Chandigarh 26^th July:- The trio - Shantanu Maheshwari, Macedon D'mello and Nimit Kotian- from the upcoming show, bindass NAACH, visited the city of Chandigarh as a part of their four- city tour and enthralled audiences with their spectacular dancing prowess.

The choreographed act, while entertaining all the fans present, also took them through the story, the journey and the lifelong dream of these boys to represent their country at the prestigious - World of Dance 2015 in LA. The troupe has been working hard to develop and perfect their own unique style of Hip Hop- fusing different elements of locking, popping,freestyle and fans got an opportunity to witness a performance that reflected their undying passion for dance.

Expressing his excitement, Shantanu Maheshwari said that we three have always nurtured a dream to follow our passion and perform at the World of Dance competition and now, with bindass NAACH, our dream is finally coming true. We visited Chandigarh to get all the encouragement and support from everyone that will help us perform better at this international mecca of dance.
