Shemrock School Celebrates World Earth Day
Mohali 22nd April:-- Shemrock Sen. Sec. School Mohali celebrated World
Earth Day with fervour at its campus. The students delivered the
message to Save our Mother Earth through a wonderful play enacted by
students of class-9th. Students visualized exploitation of resources
in modern times ,which will lead to diseases and disasters. They also
danced to the tunes of the song "We are in it together" praising our
planet. Later, poster making competition was held for older students
. First of all students denoted the meaning of World Earth Day then
teachers also gave information about the origin of the earth and a
documentary on natural resources was also presented.
After that students of kindergarten participated in fancy dress
competition which was centre of attraction for all .In poster making
competition children wrote different captions to save natural
resources which can naturally be a positive action to save mother
earth .students while takings different placards made by them went to
neighbouring houses and urged residents to not to use plastic bags
.They also gave massage to residents to not to waste water and told
them innovative ways of water saving as well as they encouraged them
to water the plants in evening for less evaporation .
While Principal S.K.Sharma told that to develop love for the nature,
children are also given responsibility to take care the plants of
school premises .Students also by making different groups planted
saplings in school premises and are given duty to take care them
for a month so that liability of taking care of plants can be adopted
by students naturally which will lead to turn them into nature lover
and responsible citizens of future.
Website of PGI Nephrology Deptt. Launch

Chandigarh 22nd April:-- The website of the nephrology dept
www.nephropgi.org was launched today by Prof K S Chugh, Emeritus Prof
PGI during the CME on Nephrology Updates and Controversies organized
by Department of Nephrology, PGIMER. The CME was attended by over
150 Nephrologists all over the country, which included all the
stalwarts in the field of Nephrology in India. The recent
developments in the field of Nephrology, dialysis and transplantation
were discussed. These included advances in the field of vasculitis by
Prof Ramdas from Trivandrum, Newer strategies in the management of
renal transplant rejection by Dr Vijay Kher, Chairman, Nephrology,
Medanta Mediciti, Gurgaon. Management of hepatitis C in renal
transplant recipients was discussed by Prof SK Agarwal. HOD
Nephrology, AIIMS, New Delhi, Cross match techniques was lucidly
described by Prof RK Sharma, Director, SGPGIMS, Lucknow. An
interesting session on Interventional nephrology was conducted by Dr
Valentine Lobo from Pune and Dr Mukesh Yadav from PGI, Management
issues in peritoneal dialysis were also discussed.
Controversial issues in the field of nephrology with many brain
storming sessions included prevention of diabetic nephropathy,
intensification of dialysis in the Indian cohort and management issues
in Lupus nephritis. Prof Vinay Sakhuja, Director MSSH, Mohali spoke on
recovery of patients with acute kidney injury. There was an
interesting description of newer entity IgG4 related disease by Dr
Raja Ramachandran. The CME was concluded by teaching session on
radiology and renal pathology by faculty of PGIMER, Chandigarh.

Adherence To Model Code of Conduct Should Be Ensured: Sanjay Dixit
Mohali 21st April:-- In accordance with the directions of election
commission, adherence to model code of conduct should be ensured for
lok sabha elections to be held on 30 April in SAS Nagar, Kharar & Dera
Bassi constituencies. Strict action against defaulters either party or
candidate, should be initiated, if found violating the model code of
conduct. This was stated by General Election Observer Sanjay Dixit
IAS, while he was reviewing the randomization of EVMs in the presence
of representatives of various political parties, here at District
Administrative Complex. He minutely reviewed the process and showing
his satisfactoriness towards the security arrangements; he said that
the monitoring & Surveillance teams formed for successful completion
of elections should perform their duty carefully, so that no body
could dare to influence the voters by a means.
During this, District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner
Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that to conduct fair & transparent
elections in the district, all necessary measures have been taken. He
said that 6 lacs 16 thousand 854 voters will use their constitutional
right whereas 20 thousand new voters have been enrolled in the
district. For 688 Polling booths 2752 officers will be deputed. He
said that at every polling booth there will be one Presiding Officer,
One Alternative Presiding Officer along with polling officers will be
deputed. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that special arrangements for
sitting & facility of drinking water have also been ensured at polling
booths to facilitate the voters. He said that adherence of model code
of conduct will not be compromise at any cost and the teams thus
formed in view of security aspects should perform their duties with
honesty & dedication. He said that the final rehearsal of polling
staff will be conducted on 27 April. He said that for smooth
functioning of election process, polling staff has been made aware
about the working of EVMs & election procedure. District Electoral
Officer said that 122 polling booths in the district are hyper
sensitive & 231 are sensitive, and to prevent any mishap & to control
anti social elements the booths will be under strict monitoring of
micro observers deputed for the purpose. Besides above, 21 polling
booths will be monitored through live web casting, for which the
control room will be set up at District Election Office SAS Nagar. He
said that videography of polling booths will also be done. Sh. Sidhu
said that every effort will be done for peaceful completion of
transparent elections in the district & Law & Order in the district
will be ensured.
300 Attend Max Hospital Health Talk at DSOI
Chandigarh 21st April:--As many as 300 retired officers from Indian
Defence Services and their families attended a Max Super Speciality
Hospital (MSSH), Mohali health talk on 'Heart Team Approach (HTA)' at
Defence Services Officers Institute (DSOI), Sector 36, here this
evening.
In this concept there was one big operating theatre where the patient
was given best of the expertise both in Cardiology and Cardiothoracic
sciences. In post operative period, another team of doctors would
guide him about life style management after heart disease. Heart Team
was mandatory in most western countries for any cardiac centre. In
India too, patients were now encouraged to take opinion from both the
Cardiologist and Cardiac Surgeon (post angiography). The patient would
decide on the intervention for himself, after weighing the benefits
and disadvantages of that intervention. This would make his treatment
less risky, more durable and economical. Thus the healthcare team
would become an extended family of the patient during his treatment,
pointed out Dr Sarwal.
Speaking during occasions, Dr Virendar Sarwal, Principal Consultant &
Chief of Deptt of Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery, MSSH, Mohali said
that rapidly expanding treatment options for heart diseases like valve
repairs, coronary artery bypass surgery and arrhythmia treatment would
often confuse the patient. Because of the wide ranges of new treatment
options, patients could get confused about their future course of
treatment. In the latest concept of HTA , the patient was offered the
best possible treatment choices available for them. Dr Sarwal further
explained that in HTA, every stable patient was counselled by a Heart
Team about the pros and cons of procedure and based on reports he was
given the best suitable option of treatment. So every patient would
know about best option for him or her. This approach was based on the
concept that patient was a priority in medical decisions.
Dr Sarwal said that these remarkable breakthroughs would mean a new
concept of patient care ,bringing together Interventional
Cardiologists, Cardiothoracic Surgeons and other experts under one
roof to evaluate each patient and design customized treatment plans to
meet specific patient needs. This approach would not only improve
outcomes and overall patient satisfaction, it was also ensured
wholesome care for the patient.
'DIL VIL PYAAR VYAAR' BECOMES FIRST PUNJABI FILM TO GO ON THE SETS OF 'COMEDY NIGHTS WITH KAPIL'
Chandigarh 21st April:-- The Punjabi Movie 'Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar'
(DVPV) is being released on 2nd May 2014 in a big way. Apart from
being a healthy family film the other unique aspect about DVPV is for
the first time that Punjab's top actress Neeru Bajwa is coming
onscreen opposite Gurdas Maan. Now, there is another pleasant first
that has been associated with the film, Gurdas Maan was on the sets of
popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma's runaway hit show – 'Comedy
Nights with Kapil' on Colors. The episode was aired on 19th April. The
show saw Maan informing Punjabi movie enthusiasts, what DVPV will be
bringing for them when it hits theatres.
In a statement given at Chandigarh, Sumeet Singh, MD, Unisys
Infosolutions, the company which has the sole rights of the film
produced by Sai Productions said, that DVPV is slated to reverse the
trend being witnessed by Pollywood, of predictable genres like
'Comedy' & 'Romedy'. It's a wholesome family movie having a good
storyline, comedy, emotions & foot tapping music. It gives me a sense
of pride to proclaim that DVPV is the first Punjabi film which has got
onto the 'Comedy Nights with Kapil' bandwagon.
All fans of Gurdas Maan and DVPV had a fabulous evening watching the
great entertainer talking about DVPV, his trademark Bhangra jig with
fans and his hilarious interaction with the inimitable Bua on Kapil's
show. The show came alive when 'Bua' made an entry dancing to the
tunes of DVPV's chartbuster 'Saanu Te Aisa Mahi'. The melodious songs
of Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar are already making waves on FM and other Radio

grant special causal leave on 30 april. This will also be paid holiday
in Industrial Shops and Commercial Establishment and for daily wage
employees/causal workers.

‘Videocon Connect Super Jodi’ Captivates The Audience

Chandigarh 21st April:-- Following the huge success of Videocon Connect Super Jodi last year, Connect Broadband, in collaboration with Videocon Telecom and Videocon D2H, kick started the Mega contest on Valentine's Day this year. A unique initiative to bring couples closer, 'Videocon Connect Super Jodi Contest', is a platform for hundreds of couples across Punjab to graciously celebrate love for their partners. Packed with excitement and gusto, 14 couples from Mohali reignited their soulful chemistry with playful activities at Connect Broadband office in Mohali today. The couples enthralled the audience with mesmerizing performances. The evening also saw captivating performances by Punjabi singer Sheron Deol. The couples were judged on the performances by an equally talented panel.
The response to the Mega Contest saw encouraging responses where close to 50,000 people participated in the auditions held across Punjab. A total of 60 couples will compete on the city level, and fight for the glorious top 10 positions where the winning couples from each city will contend to win the coveted 'Videocon Super Jodi' winner title and will also take away the luxurious grand prize of a foreign trip.
Designed to signify the 'CONNECTION' between two people, this is a unique platform for couples to showcase their compatibility and talent. This year the contest was conducted for young couples in the age group of 25 years to 35 years. Interesting and griping format of the contest has been conducted in key cities of Punjab, mainly Jalandhar, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Bhatinda, Patiala and Chandigarh. In these towns interested couples were selected from each city on the basis of their performance from local rounds. They are now performing in second round to compete against finalists in each city for a slot in the grand finale.
Couples participated in these cities at auditions held at housing societies, shopping malls, clubs and offices. The couples were judged on the basis of their compatibility, unique talent and confidence. Two Couples were selected from each audition round through on-ground activities by a panel of judges for the next round. Grand Finale shall see couples chosen across Punjab participating in the final contest, competing against each other for the grand prize.

Innovaction Events Holds Talent Round for Ms and Master Junior Super Model
Chandigarh 18th April:-- Innovaction Events, was organized Talent
round for Ms and Master Junior Super Model. In which almost 45 Kids
took part and showcase their talent. The children selected during the
talent round will be awarded on Grand Finale to be organized on April
20 at Bal Bhawan sector 23,chandigarh.
According to Ms Disha Luthra, Managing Director, Innovaction Events
that Innovaction Events company organized audition for Ms and Master
Junior Super Model on April 2nd, in which youngsters, women and
children participated and performed from the states adjoining the
Tricity. competitions on different themes were organized, which
includes dancing, singing, gaming, painting and quiz. Children
performed very well in all the competitions and forced judges to
appreciate through clapping. 45 participants were selected during the
audition and the talent round for these 45 participants was today
organized in Buzz Lounge, Sector-17, Chandigarh. During Talent round
children answered the tough questions of judges through their talent,
judges were astonished. Judges appreciated the talent and energy shown
by the children.
