Chandigarh 10th May:-- A two day lifestyle exhibition -- Summer Fashion Yatra 2014, got off to a stylish start at Panchkula's Hotel Welcom Bella Vista. Over 30 fashion designers, accessories specialists & Home Décor houses are displaying their products for this season.

Ashmah International school Celebrates Mother’s Day

Mohali 10th May:-- Ashmah International School celebrated Mother's Day today with great zest and enthusiasm. The mothers were welcomed with flowers. Keeping in mind mother's health Ashmah International School invited Dietician and Gynaecologist from Indus Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali to give some good tips to the mothers.  Students also stage various activities on the stage at the moments.

Apart from this, a Salad making competition and games like one minute game, tombola, and hoopla dance; newspaper dance was organized for the mothers .The whole day was full of fun and frolic. Mothers enjoyed a lot. Prizes were given to the winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Roopinder Ghuman advised mothers to be the friend and the guide to their children in the real sense of word and to win their confidence not only on the basis of the strength of their social relationship but also by becoming a role model for the minds which is very sensitive and receptive.

The Director, Mr. J S Kesar, IAS, Financial Commissioner (Retd) urged children to  thank their mothers for  innumerable sacrifices they did, giving  their best at all times and for instilling the belief that you are capable of achieving whatever you  want. Thank you is very small word in front of mothers who not just help to dream, but help to realize them step by step. He further added that life wouldn't be so beautiful if it was without mothers.

Haryana Government Procures 62.15 Lakh MT of Wheat

Chandigarh 09th May:-- In Haryana, more than 62.17 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has so far arrived in various mandis during the current procurement season.

 The official spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said that the government agencies have procured 62.15 lakh MT of wheat whereas, 2029 MT of wheat have been purchased by traders. He said that HAFED has purchased highest 23.84 lakh MT of wheat followed by 17.31 lakh MT purchased by Food and Supplies Department. Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased 5.54 lakh MT, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 6.12 lakh MT, CONFED 1.53 lakh MT and Food Corporation of India had procured 7.79 lakh MT of wheat during current procurement season so far. He further said that district Sirsa is leading in the wheat arrival where 8.56 lakh MT of wheat has arrived in the mandis, followed by Fatehabad with 6.68 lakh MT. Similarly, 6.47 lakh MT wheat arrived in Karnal, 5.94 lakh MT in Jind, 5.90 lakh MT in district Kaithal, 4.45 lakh MT in Kurukshetra, 4.35 lakh MT of wheat in Hisar, 3.24 lakh MT in Sonepat, 2.48 lakh MT in Panipat, 2.11 lakh MT in Rohtak, 2.09 lakh MT in Bhiwani, 2.09 lakh MT in Ambala, 2.03 lakh MT in Palwal, 1.97 lakh MT in Yamunanagar, 1.16 lakh MT in Jhajjar,  89,958 MT in Faridabad, 49,689 MT in Mewat, 43,603 MT in Gurgaon, 29,203 MT in Rewari, 26,410 MT in Panchkula and 20,780 MT wheat arrived in various mandis in Narnaul. He said that farmers have been asked to bring dry and properly cleaned wheat in the mandis so that they might not face any difficulty while selling their produce.

 

Haryana Govt. Raises The Retirement Age of Anganwadi Workers & Helpers

Chandigarh 09th May:-- Haryana Government has raised the retirement age of anganwadi workers and helpers from 60 to 65 years.While stating this here today, a spokesman of Women and Child Development Department said that this decision would benefit over 51,400 workers and helpers associated with 25,962 anganwadi centres across the state. He said that all the anganwadi workers and helpers, after 60 years of work, would have to submit fitness certificate issued by District Medical Board headed by Civil Surgeon. He said that government had also increased the honorarium of anganwadi workers from Rs.5000 to Rs.7500 per month and that of anganwadi helpers from Rs.2500 to Rs.3500 per month. Similarly, the honorarium of mini anganwadi worker had been increased from Rs.3250 to Rs.4000 per month.

Lawrence School Learns Skills of Making Pottery.

Mohali 08th May:-- Lawrence senior secondary School today organized a workshop of making pots, different earthenware and utensil of mud, where students participated and try to learn traditional technique of pottery i.e. how to make toys and other accessory of decoration with clay as well as mud. Later, they learned how to dry common clay pot in a gas kiln also. The kiln was made up of fire bricks, ceramic bricks & ceramic blanket to maintain the temperature. There is a meter that indicates the temperature. The children learned how to place the pots on the slabs and the bricks which are called furniture in the kiln.

While speaking on this moment Principal Veena Malhotra said we are running towards technology and virtual world and are forgetting our traditional arts as well as culture. History has witnessed that if any civilization has forgotten its culture then has to confront dire consequences so it was an effort of the school to bring its students close to the art of their tradition and culture to inspire them to enhance their creative skills  .

 

Indo Global College Organises Placement Drive

Mohali 08th May:-- Indo Global organised a placement drive for its final year Engineering and MBA students. 34 students from Engineering and Management streams has been selected by McNewton, Enbake Consulting Private Limited, Ingersoll Rand AdiUshma Engineers, Burn Gym, Solitaire Infosys, and PNB Met Life. The salary offered is ranged from Rs.2.4 lacs to Rs. 3 lacs per annum, with additional perks and allowances to incentivise their performance. The selected students are given offer letters with joining dates in the first week of June immediately after completion of their final examinations.

The placement drive was commenced after giving the students a detailed presentation on the company profile, their career path, selection process, and job profile and salary package. The selection process for the engineers consisted of both technical and personal interviews whereas the MBA marketing students with convincing skills in group discussions were selected for final round of interviews. After a thorough elimination and selection process the final list was declared. The participating students also had an interactive session with them wherein they cleared their doubts on various issues like location, job profile, growth prospects, salary package etc.

Sukhdev Kumar Singla, Chairman of Indo Global Colleges congratulated the students who secured job offers .He encouraged them to prepare well to succeed and enter their professional life on a winning note.

 

PHD Holds Seminar On “Energy Conservation in Sugar Industry”

Chandigarh 08th May:-- Reiterating that energy saved is energy produced, Dalip Sharma, Director PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, that it is high time that we cultivate energy saving habits. Environment and energy conservation, and sustainability is a challenge requiring policy programmes, technological development and behavioral change to go hand in hand. Dalip Sharma was speaking during the one day seminar on "Energy Conservation in Sugar Industry" at PHD House here today.

Dalip Sharma, Director PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, that with India's energy demand expected to more than double by 2030, there is a pressing need to develop innovative ways to develop energy saving habits as reflexes.

Stressing on the need for training to the cane managers, Rajender Kumar, Additional Director, State co-ordinator, Chandigarh said, that energy conservation assumes special significance due to limited sources of primary energy in our country and our heavy dependence on imports to meet the demand. Laying stress on the cultivation of simple energy saving habits including use of natural resources efficiently, Rajender Kumar said, that the biggest challenge ahead of all of us is to change the mindset of the people.

Laying stress on the energy audits, A K Malik, Advisor Technical to the Sugar Federation, Haryana said, that the rising costs of energy and the shortfall in their supply are forcing industry to adopt enegy conservation. Energy audit and management are the two important functions in introducing any energy conservation programme in Sugar mill. Energy audit ascertains the efficiency of energy use in different equipments, process and system by monitoring the energy flow and managements help to implement the necessary measures in reducing energy losses and improving energy usage.

The experts disseminated information on energy efficiency, fuel conservation, environmental concerns, water issues and concerns, global warming, biodiversity conservation, sustainable development, carbon footprint, renewable energy, and strategic initiatives.

General Public Not To Be Bothere Due To IPL Cricket Matches: Thind

Mohali 07th May:--Mohali District police has made special arrangements to ensure to facilitate the general public and proper traffic management, in view of the IPL Cricket matches to be held on 21, 22 & 25 May at Mohali. This was stated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Parveen Kumar Thind while he was addressing a meeting with the officers concerned held at District Administrative Complex, for ensuring proper arrangement in view of IPL cricket matches.

 Parveen Kumar Thind said directed the managers of Kings IX Punjab team, to coordinate the concerned departments so that timely NOCs could be issued. He said that during matches strict compliance of Tobacco Control Act should be ensured, as Punjab Govt. has declared the district SAS Nagar as Smack Free District. Parveen Kumar Thind directed the Additional Civil Surgeon Dr. J.K.Bansal to form a team of doctors comprising two doctors and to ensure the implementation of Tobacco Control Act. Parveen Kumar Thind directed the SP (City) Swarndeep Singh to prepare a traffic route plan for proper management of traffic during matches and arrangement for proper parking of vehicle should be ensured. During this, he directed the additional Commissioner (Technical) Municipal Corporation, B.D.Singla to maintain proper cleanliness & proper lighting arrangement in the city. He also directed the officials present during meeting to perform their assigned duties with full dedication & honesty.
