Livasa Hospital Amritsar Launches Stroke Awareness Initiative

Amritsar, Mar.18, 2026: Livasa Hospital Amritsar on Wednesday launched a stroke awareness initiative. The initiative was launched to spread awareness in public to understand the early warning signs of stroke and seek immediate medical attention, as every minute counts when it comes to saving brain function.
Dr. Arshdeep Kaur Sethi, senior consultant-neurologist at Livasa said that stroke remains one of the leading causes of disability and death worldwide, yet timely recognition and treatment can significantly improve survival and recovery outcomes.
She further said that common warning signs include sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm, or leg, difficulty speaking, confusion, loss of balance, severe headache, or blurred vision.
Dr. Sethi said that early diagnosis and rapid treatment are critical in preventing permanent neurological damage.
She said that stroke is a medical emergency where every minute matters. With early intervention such as thrombolysis and specialized neurological care, we can significantly reduce disability and improve recovery. Public awareness about symptoms and the need to reach a hospital quickly can truly save lives.
Dr. Amanjot Singh, consultant-neurosurgeon, emphasized that lifestyle factors such as uncontrolled hypertension, diabetes, smoking, sedentary habits, and high cholesterol significantly increase stroke risk, making preventive health checks equally important. He informed that the modern neurosurgical advancements have greatly improved outcomes in complex neurological emergencies.
