MCM Spearheads Mission 1 Lakh Triveni

Chandigarh July 15, 2021:- Inaugurating 'Mission 1 Lakh Triveni', the Swachhta Committee of Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Chandigarh carried out plantation of Triveni in the college campus, in collaboration with Parijai Genus Pvt. Ltd. Principal Dr. Nisha Bhargava, along with the officials of Parijai Genus Pvt. Ltd. and Coordinators of Swachhta Committee, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) Cell, NSS units, Artificial Forest and Horticulture Committee, planted Triveni- the trio of three plants viz. neem tree (Azadirachta indica), peepal (Ficus religiosa) and banyan (Ficus benghalensis), planted together in one pit. Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Bhargava said that besides having ecological importance, triveni also holds spiritual significance as banyan, neem and peepal are regarded as the abode of Lord Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, respectively. She added that it is heartening that various committees of the college are undertaking the virtuous and fortunate deed of planting Triveni.

The mission was carried forward by UBA Cell and NSS units by planting Triveni in their respective adopted villages and different areas of tricity. The UBA Cell planted 3 sets of Triveni in Kharar, 1 set each in Panjab University Campus, Sector 13, Chandigarh, and Phase 4 and Sohana village of Mohali. NSS units contributed to Mission Triveni by planting a set of Triveni in the premises of Government Model School and Anganwadi Multiple Complex, Village Badheri, and another set in Krishna Market area of Sector 41.
