Massive Rally of U.T. & MC Employees Announced Direct Action of Agitation

Chandigarh Dec. 17, 2020:- On the call given by the Federation of U.T. Employees & Workers Chandigarh The employee of UT & MC today held a massive Rally & Demonstration before the MC Office, Sector `17, Chandigarh. The Employees of Electricity, water supply, road, horticulture, maintenance, CITCO, ICCW, BDPO, MC Manimajra and other department of U.T. and M.C. participated in the rally in a massive way.    

Gopal Dutt Joshi Gen. Secretary Federation of U.T. Employees & Workers Chandigarh while addressing the gathering  elaborated the issues of the protest and said that this protest demonstration is being held in support of long pending genuine demands of UT and MC Employees and also against the adamant attitude of the Authorities of Chandigarh Administration and Municipal Corporation, the demands which includes stoppage the process of privatization of UT Electricity Department, Chandigarh, Regularization of all the daily wages, work charge, contract & engage through outsource agencies after 3 years service by implementing 2016 regularization policy of Punjab Government, Grant Basic Pay, DA, HRA, CCA & other allowance and pension to the workers as per principle of equal work without any out of date, Filling up of vacant posts in the various department and creation of additional posts, Amendments in Recruitment Rules in various departments of U.t. & M.c. with the Consultation of the Federation, Withdraw the decision of Smart Watch imposed on MC Employee a symbol of Salivary, Recruitment of contract workers through department at its own level instead of through out sources agencies/ GeM Portal to avoid exploitation, Release of Pension cases of UT and M.C. Employees who have retired since long, Grant offer of appointment to the next kin of deceased employees by scraping 5% ceiling on Punjab Pattern, Providing T&P, Safety Devices, Rain Coat, Gumboot, Uniform, Soap & Oil LTA & Grade Pay to field staff, Released the revised D.C. rates due after 01.04.2020 as per price Index and demanded Chandigarh Administration and M.C. Authorities to implement the demands without further delay through proper negotiation with the Federation. 

Raghbir Chand President Federation of U.T. Employees and Workers Chandigarh, Dhian Singh President UT Powermen Union,  Rajinder Katoch (Water Supply), Bhim Sain, Harkesh Chand (Hort.), Amrik Singh, Bihari Lal  while addressing the rally  strongly criticized the Chandigarh Administration for its decision to Privatize the well running  and profit making UT Electricity Department, Chandigarh and blamed that the Department is performing very efficiently by giving 24 hours uninterrupted supply to the consumers of City Beautiful, line loses are below the target of Ministry of Power the rate of electricity is very cheap  in comparison of all the state and union territory  even then the department is earning 250 crore and above profit for last three years and achieve best utility award for its excellent service. The annual turnover of the department is 1000 crore but it is being sale at the rate of 200 crores. The land and building cost are only 1/- per month for the purpose which so the ill intension of the department and blamed that it is only being done in the interest of corporate.

The rally was also addressed by Kuldip Singh (CITU), Om Parkash (Punjab Board Mahasangh), Ram Sarup and Manmohan Singh (UT & MC Pensioners Association ), Harpal Singh, Chain Singh (Water Supply), Gurmeet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh (Electricity), M. Subhramaniyam & Ram Baksh  (MC Horticulture), Bishram, Rajinderan (U.T. and M.C. Road), Nasib Singh, beside other leaders of Sister Organization. A memorandum of demands submitted to the Commissioner Municipal Corporation for its immediate implementation and warned that if the demands will not be implemented immediately through proper negotiation with the Federation then Federation will be compelled to resolve direct action of agitation.

The demonstration through a resolution mourn the death of Farmers during their agitation against Three Farm Laws and Electricity Amendment Bill2020 and demanded the Government of India to resolve the demands of the agitating farmers in the interest of farmers and toiling peoples.

Through another resolution the protests demands highly level enquiry of UT Chief Engineer Mukesh Anand during his four years tenure and also demanded the inquiry regarding his property earn during the tenure of Chief Engineer.
